Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.26% in a weak market
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 1.24 per cent), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(up 1.21 per cent), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 0.93 per cent), Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(up 0.74 per cent) and Tata Motors Ltd.(up 0.39 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Tube Investments of India Ltd.(down 1.08 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 0.89 per cent), Ashok Leyland Ltd.(down 0.62 per cent) and Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(down 0.1 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Auto index was up 0.26 per cent at 15957.7 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 25.85 points at 19053.75, while the BSE Sensex was down 112.95 points at 63761.98.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 were trading in the green, while 25 were in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, JP Power, YES Bank, IOB and Indian Oil Corp.
were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Mazda Ltd, Kapston Facilities, JP Associates, Geojit Financial and Gravita India hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Mittal Life Style, Max Estates, Yasho Industries, Nagreeka Capital and Winsome Yarns hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
