Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.23% in a weak market
Mahindra & Mahindra(up 1.36 per cent), Eicher Motors(up 0.57 per cent), Bharat Forge(up 0.4 per cent) and Bajaj Auto(up 0.2 per cent) were among the top gainers. Samvardhana Motherson International(down 2.79 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings(down 2.46 per cent), Tata Motors(down 1.13 per cent), Maruti Suzuki(down 0.63 per cent) and Balkrishna Industries(down 0.58 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Auto index was down 0.23 per cent at 15536.7 at the time of writing this report. Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 50.9 points at 19609.0, while the BSE Sensex was down 233.32 points at 66033.5.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 21 were trading in the green, while 28 were in the red. Shares of Vodafone Idea, Reliance Power, Suzlon Energy, YES Bank and Rail Vikas Nigam were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
