Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 1.23%
Shares of Lupin Ltd.(up 4.03 per cent), Ipca Laboratories Ltd.(up 3.84 per cent), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(up 2.52 per cent), GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 2.19 per cent) and Aurobindo Pharma Ltd.(up 1.87 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Biocon Ltd.(down 2.13 per cent), Laurus Labs Ltd.(down 1.28 per cent), Granules India Ltd.(down 0.61 per cent), Gland Pharma Ltd.(down 0.6 per cent) and Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 0.36 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.23 per cent up at 16860.85.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 123.95 points at 21778.7, while the BSE Sensex stood up 371.95 points at 72410.38.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 38 ended in the green, while 12 closed in the red.
Shares of HUDCO, PNB, Vodafone Idea, YES Bank and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Aarti Surfactants(PP), SecMark Consultancy, Lagnam Spintex, Hind Copper and Bhagyanagar Ind hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Akshar Spintex, Bajel Projects, Motisons Jewellers, Vaxtex Cotfab and Muthoot Microfin hit their fresh 52-week lows.
