G20 countries have engaged constructively with India's draft and have strong praise for India's ambition for delivering strong and action-oriented outcomes, Amitabh Kant, India's G20 sherpa, told ET's Deepshikha Sikarwar on the sidelines of the third sherpa meeting in Hampi, Karnataka. Edited excerpts:This is the third sherpa meeting and the drafting exercise for the declaration has begun. What are the key items on the table for India that you are hopeful of pushing through in the leaders' declaration? PM Modi was clear that India's G20 presidency must be inclusive, ambitious, decisive and action-oriented.
He was also clear that issues of the global south must be brought to the fore. At the same time, he emphasised that India's experience in digital public infrastructure in unlocking inclusive growth could be positioned as a global solution.
Similarly, the role of millets in promoting not only nutritious diets but also sustainable agriculture could be another global solution. Our focus on empowering women and girls could unlock growth at a time when global growth is slowing.
India's experiences could provide lasting solutions to the world on challenges affecting us all. He was of the view that we must aim to accelerate progress on SDGs (United Nations' sustainable development goals), create a green development pact for a sustainable future, build digital public infrastructure for inclusive growth, reform international financial institutions and ensure gender equality.
