Chris Hemsworth, who is best known for playing Thor, has backed Marvel Cinematic Universe films even though some of the latest super-hero flicks have flopped at the box-office.
Hemsworth, who played Thor in eight Marvel movies, has taken a veiled dig at actors who critized their films after they failed commercially.
In the wake of declining excitement and box office performance for Marvel movies in recent years, a new wave of introspective critique has emerged from some of the franchise's most iconic actors. Robert Downey Jr. has openly voiced his opinion, as per a Fox News report.
Chris Hemsworth advocates for a sense of humility among actors, advising against discrediting their past work. «It’s, like, ‘They’re films that are successful — put me in one. Oh, mine didn’t work? I’ll bash them,'» Hemsworth told The Sunday Times.
Hemsworth also said the criticism of Marvel superhero movies by cinema giants like Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola came across as «harsh» and an «eye-roll» to him. Scorsese had made headlines in 2019 when he had branded the superhero films as «theme park experience» and «not cinema». Coppola later went a step further and called superhero movies «despicable».
Hemsworth, known for playing the fan-favourite superhero 'Thor' in multiple Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), said he has been a fan of the two filmmakers due to the extensive nature of their filmography.
