«Such co-branded cards reward the users for their loyalty by providing maximum value-back with the associated brand in the form of accelerated reward points, cashback or direct discount. Some cards, particularly those co-branded with airlines or hotel loyalty programs, may also extend complimentary membership or elite status to the cardholders, helping them unlock more perks,» explained Rohit Chhibbar, head of credit cards business, Paisabazaar.

«You should choose a co-branded card only if you are loyal to the associated brand and if the card's benefits align with your spending patterns. You should also compare other options to see whether a general rewards or cashback card could offer you better value than the co-branded card. For instance, if you are frequent traveller looking to save on your travel spends, you should compare cards co-branded with an airline or travel portal with a general travel credit card that provides good value-back across all travel spends. In addition to the reward rate, you should also check the redemption value and the redemption options. For instance, some cards may offer reward points or cashback directly into a linked wallet, limiting your redemption options,» added Chhibbar.
