Foreign investors were net sellers of securities under the central bank's fully accessible route (FAR) for the second straight month in November, as global fund managers went underweight on Indian securities amid rising US yields.
Foreign portfolio investors sold FAR securities worth ₹5,186.7 crore more than those they purchased in November, according to data from the Clearing Corporation of India. Net sales in October were ₹2,051.67 crore.
Foreign investors, in fact, sold securities in all emerging markets, as they were drawn towards elevated US yields. Donald Trump's re-election has led to uncertainty and there is a general risk-off towards the US, economists said.
Before turning sellers in October, FPIs had net purchased ₹62,919.37 crore of Indian securities covered under FAR in the three months after Indian sovereign debt was included in the JP Morgan emerging markets bond index.
