Uttar Pradesh government has undertaken a special campaign for the fast verification of the labourers registered on the e-shram portal for issuance of ration cards. The campaign is being run by the state’s food and civil supplies departments on the directives of the CM Yogi Adityanath in this regard.
As per the latest data available with the food and civil supplies department, around 8.31 crore labourers have been registered. According to a press release, out of the 8.31 crore registered labourers, around 6.73 labourers have already been receiving benefits of the government ration. The state government claimed that the verification process is progressing rapidly to provide ration cards to workers registered on e-shram portals.
The total number of labourers for verification is around 1.58 crore and out of it, the verification of around 1.49 crore labourers is completed. As per the release, total 26.47 lakh labourers were found eligible and 2.37 lakh labourers of them are already receiving benefits of ration. During the verification process, 122.92 lakh have been found ineligible.
The Yogi government has taken several initiatives to ease the process of verification of labourers. For the verification of labourers at village-level, a team is constituted to check the eligibility of labourers. In mandatory documentation, labourers have been exempted from showing their income certificate and bank passbook.
