CAS) rejected wrestler Vinesh Phogat's appeal against her disqualification, emphasizing that it is an athlete's responsibility to stay within the weight limit, and no exceptions can be made on that basis, it said in its full verdict.
However, CAS acknowledged the «draconian» consequences of failing the weigh-in on the second day.
Vinesh was disqualified from the Paris Olympics after being found overweight by 100g on August 8, just before competing in the gold medal bout in the women's 50kg category.

The 29-year-old wrestler appealed for a joint-silver medal and her decision went through three postponements before a final verdict. Earlier on August 14, the Court had given out a single line verdict of dismissing the wrestler's plea.

- The Sole Arbitrator has concluded that the Applicant, of her own free will, entered into the 50 kg wrestling category and well knew that this required her to maintain a weight for competition below 50 kg.
