Reports claiming the pair lacked a prenuptial agreement shocked many, even if the breakup itself wasn't shocking. Although the couple eloped to Las Vegas in July 2022 and were officially married in Georgia a month later, a close source of Lopez's told various media sites that the pair might not have such an arrangement. Legal professionals, however, find this assertion doubtful, as per the reports of Yahoo entertainment.
Nancy Chemtob, a divorce lawyer, expressed shock that Lopez and Affleck, who are extremely wealthy because of their lucrative careers and a $68 million Beverly Hills home they've been trying to sell since their separation in April, wouldn't have a financial agreement in place. Despite not being involved in the case, Chemtob thought they had to establish a strong working agreement.

Celebrity lawyer Christopher Melcher expressed doubts that the pair would have been married in the absence of a premarital arrangement. He explained that Lopez was under no need to reveal in her divorce filing whether or not she had a prenuptial agreement, and he advised against making assumptions based only on its absence.
