Maye Musk, the mother of Elon Musk, has come under heavy criticism after suggesting people vote with fake names in US elections. Her remarks on social media led some to notify the FBI and federal authorities, citing concerns over promoting «voter fraud.»
Maye Musk posted on social media platform X, “The Democrats have given us another option. You don’t have to register to vote. On Election Day, have 10 fake names, go to 10 polling booths and vote 10 times. That’s 100 votes, and it’s not illegal. Maybe we should work the system too.”
The post, which gathered over 2.5 million views, faced severe backlash. Many users pointed out that her suggestion was illegal. One user tagged the FBI offices and wrote, “This person seems to be advocating for people to commit voter fraud on a large scale. They are also misinforming by claiming it is legal to do so. Please note for post election follow up.”
Another user, alerting the Federal Election Commission, urged action by saying, “This woman is inciting people to break election laws. DO SOMETHING.”
The post was later flagged with a community note, highlighting the illegality of the suggested actions and linking to the US election code of conduct.
