Lalit Mohan Jha, the alleged mastermind behind the December 13 Parliament security breach on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament attack, was arrested on Thursday. According to Delhi Police, Jha, accompanied by an accomplice turned himself in, after a manhunt was launched to nab the alleged mastermind behind the entire conspiracy in the Parliament Security breach case. A Delhi court on Thursday had granted seven days custodial remand of all four accused persons arrested earlier — Manoranjan D, Sagar Sharma, Amol Dhanraj Shinde and Neelam Devi — in connection with the Parliament security breach matter.
In the Thursday's security breach in Parliament, Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D had jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery during Zero Hour, released yellow smoke from canisters and shouted slogans before being overpowered by MPs.
Around the same time, Amol Dhanraj Shinde and Neelam Devi, raised slogans and released yellow smoke from canisters outside the Parliament premises, prompting police to arrest the duo.
Lalit Jha, originally from Bihar, had earlier worked as a teacher in Kolkata and Press Trust of India spoke to many of his neighbours while he was there in the city. He stayed in the Burrabazar area in Kolkata and according to a tea stall owner he was reserved individual, who used to teach local students.
«He was known as a teacher, used to teach local students.
A few years back, he came to the area and was living alone. He hardly used to interact with locals. At times he would have tea at my stall.
He used to keep a very low profile. He suddenly left the area two years ago and never returned,» the person said.
A former neighbour of Lalit Jha told PTI: «He hardly spoke to locals.
