rapper Tory Lanez get a sentence of 13 years in prison for shooting fellow singer Megan Thee Stallion? Or will he be simply sent to probation and a residential drug treatment program for the crime he committed in 2020? Musician Daystar Peterson aka Tory Lanez was found guilty of three felony charges. He has been indicted for shooting at Megan Pete, who is better known as Megan Thee Stallion. He was also accused of maligning the credibility of the singer through his hip-hop blogs and music.
The prosecutors urged the court to award Lanez a 13-year jail term while the defense pleaded to send him to a residential drug treatment program so that he could quit alcoholism. The incident dates back to July 12, 2020, when Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion attended a pool-side party at the residence of singer Kylie Jenner in Hollywood Park. Lanez offered Megan to drop her at her residence and they left in a black car along with Kelsey Harris and the security staff of the rapper.
An argument erupted between the two reputed singers and Lanez’s bodyguard stopped the car in the middle so that Megan could get down. As Megan Thee Stallion walked away, Lanez pulled out a handgun and fired to the ground in the direction of the singer. But Lanez’s defense counsel argued during the trial that it was Harris who fired.
It hit the headlines and became a piece of sensational news in Hollywood. Megan Thee Stallion posted on her Instagram account on August 20, 2020, that it was Lanez who fired at her. Lanez pleaded innocent, denied firing, and accused Megan Thee Stallion of telling a lie.
