Christmas Day this year. However, dreams of some to experience a White Christmas can come true with an eleventh-hour snowstorm.
Judah Cohen, director of seasonal forecasting at Versik Atmospheric and Environmental Research, said that some people will see their dream of getting a White Christmas come true at the last moment.
However, he informed that the majority of the country will be witnessing a brown Christmas.
On December 22, this Friday, around 13.2% of the adjacent U.S. was covered by snow as per the National Weather Service. In the case of that percentage staying or even diminishing, it will be the least snowy Christmas for the nation this year in comparison to the previous years.
In its forecast for the holidays, the service stated: «Most of the nation is not expected to witness a White Christmas this year, however this year the weather will remain favorable for many with plans to travel.»
Tom Kines, meteorologist at AccuWeather said: «The sudden warmth is a result of El Nino», further he referred to the abnormally warm water in the tropical Pacific Ocean that marks this disturbing climate trend.
Cohen said: «Climate change is also one of the reasons behind the reduced amount of snowfall on Christmas. The globe is getting warmer with brief winters.»
People who are residing in parts of central and western US and some states in northern Arizona to Dakatos, are most probably going to witness a White Christmas morning. This is because of a winter storm during weekends.
