Zelenskyy has expressed high hopes for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's potential role in ending the Ukraine war. In an exclusive interview with The Times of India, Zelenskyy stated, “PM Modi can influence the end of the Ukraine war. This is the huge value of him in any conflict.
This is the huge value of India.” Zelenskyy suggested that negotiations could take place in India, with PM Modi playing a pivotal role.
The conflict in Ukraine has intensified, particularly in the Donbas region, where Russian forces have made significant advances. The upcoming U.S. presidential elections add further uncertainty for Ukraine, especially if a victory for Trump leads to reduced American support.
The U.S. is a primary military aid supplier to Kyiv, and any reduction would be a major challenge. Kyiv already faces limitations on using American long-range weapons against Russian targets deep within Russia.
As winter approaches and Russia continues to target Ukraine's energy infrastructure, the situation looks grim for the coming months.
“This is the third hard winter for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people… We are step-by-step strengthening our energy systems and aren’t just going to allow Russia to kill our people,” Zelenskyy said. Discussing his recently disclosed Victory Plan and Ukraine's NATO membership aspirations, he said it aims to bolster Ukraine’s position in peace negotiations. “The Victory Plan is not a bargaining chip or a topic of negotiations with Russia… We are not asking for quick NATO membership because that is not possible during the war … What we are asking for is invitation to NATO so that in the future nobody can change their opinion.”
