The trailer for «Zero Day» shows China’s People’s Liberation Army landing in Taiwan after a presidential election. The story portrays a power vacuum, leaving society vulnerable. China creates a blockade in Taiwanese waters, claiming it is a search-and-rescue mission for a missing PLA plane, a «Y-8.»
The 10-episode series is partly funded by the Taiwanese government. This funding is part of the cultural ministry’s «1 plus 4-T-content plan.» The trailer’s release coincides with annual air raid drills in Taiwan. These drills prepare Taiwan’s 23 million residents for a potential invasion by the Chinese military. Beijing has often threatened to take over the self-ruled territory, using force if necessary.
