ICE, CNG, EV & ethanol will co-exist; Bajaj Auto wants to maintain agility to toggle between fuel systems: Rakesh Sharma
Rakesh Sharma, ED, Bajaj Auto, says there is no silver bullet that will solve all problems, on the government, society, and consumer fronts. To address these use cases, we will have the coexistence of ICE or let us say gasoline, CNG, and EV. Ethanol is also on the horizon. If there is a significant push from the government, that envelopes all the sugar factories, etc, and ropes them into this, then ethanol, which is a very big play in for example, a country like Brazil. We see all this combining to solve the issues with the society, the government and the customer are facing. We want to maintain our agility to toggle between these fuel systems. Bajaj Auto stock is at an all-time high. Three-digit has become four-digit and now five-digit. Rakesh Sharma: Well, that is your perspective. I have got a whole lot of things to attend to. So, this is, not the first thing on my mind when I roll into office.

Why G7? Jaishankar asks when questioned about the need for BRICS
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday dismissed the argument that there was no need for «another club» called the BRICS, and said he was struck by the «insecurity» in the developed world over the grouping. During a conversation with Ambassador Jean-David Levitte at Global Centre for Security Policy, a think tank, here, Jaishankar said if the G7 can exist when there is the G20, there is no reason why BRICS cannot. Accounting for 27 per cent of global GDP, BRICS was founded by Brazil, Russia, India and China; later South Africa joined it, and in January 2024, five new countries — Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, UAE and Ethiopia --joined the bloc. «Why the club? Because there was another club! It was called the G7 and you will not let anybody else into that club. So, we go and form our own club,» Jaishankar told to a loud cheer from the audience.

Eastern Ladakh row: India, China agree to work with 'urgency' to realise complete disengagement
India and China on Thursday agreed to work with «urgency» and «redouble» their efforts to realise complete disengagement in remaining friction points in eastern Ladakh as NSA Ajit Doval held talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in St Petersburg with a focus on an early resolution of the lingering border standoff. Doval conveyed to Wang that peace and tranquillity in border areas and respect for the Line of Actual Control (LAC) are essential for normalcy in bilateral ties, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). The Doval-Wang meeting took place in the Russian city on the sidelines of a conclave of national security advisors of the BRICS (Brazil-Russia-India-China-South Africa) nations. «The meeting gave the two sides an opportunity to review the recent efforts towards finding an early resolution of the remaining issues along the Line of Actual Control, which will create conditions to stabilise and rebuild bilateral relations,» the MEA said.

Donald Trump botches the name of his best friend Elon Musk, and then this happened
Donald Trump's most recent speech blunder was controversial billionaire Elon Musk. This past weekend, the outgoing president and current Republican nominee unintentionally called the CEO of Twitter, who recently joined X, «Leon» at a campaign speech in Wisconsin. Trump has been allying with the CEO, whom he only recently said he would invite to serve in his second administration if he wins the 2024 election. Trump's blunder, which alluded to Musk as «Leon,» immediately set off a chain reaction of amusing responses on social media, especially on Musk's platform. «Leon» Musk will need to launch a rocket, according to Trump. Trump mispronounced Musk's name, calling him “Leon,” which sparked a plethora of memes and jokes.
