Hathras stampede main accused arrested; police say he was recently contacted by political parties
Madhukar, the main accused in the July 2 Hathras stampede that killed 121 people, was arrested from Delhi's Najafgarh area by a Special Operations Group of Hathras police, officials said on Saturday. Madhukar, who was arrested late night on Friday, was contacted by some political parties recently, Hathras Superintendent of Police Nipun Agarwal said. Agarwal said Madhukar worked as a fundraiser for events of self-styled godman Surajpal alias Narayan Sakar Hari alias Bhole Baba and collected donations. The police will apply for remand of Madhukar, he said. «His financial transactions, money trails are being looked into, and call detail records also being checked,» Agarwal added.

Supernova insolvency case: NCLAT to wait for lenders' decision on settlement offer from Supertech Realtors
NCLAT on Wednesday said it will wait for the decision of lenders on a revised settlement offer by Supertech Realtors, which is developing a residential apartment, offices, retail and luxury hotels at its Supernova project. NCLAT also directed the Interim Resolution Professional (IRP) not to constitute a Committee of Creditors. However, it said the construction work for the project would be continued under the supervision of IRP. A three-member NCLAT bench observed that Supertech Realtors submitted an one-time settlement (OTS), and the lead bank principally agreed with the proposal and the proposal is under consideration by the consortium of banks. «In the meantime, we direct that the Committee of Creditors be not constituted. However, the ongoing project may be continued under the supervision of the IRP and the IRP shall extend all cooperation by the Corporate Debtor, its officers and employees in carrying out the construction,» said the 8-page NCLAT order.

India is likely to see above-average rainfall in July, the Indian Meteorological Department said on Monday. The monsoon will cover entire country ahead of normal schedule, IMD said. Two BSF women constables missing for over a month; 'Suspicious' clues emerge amid search
multi-agency search operation is currently in progress to locate two women constables who have been missing from the BSF Academy in Tekanpur, Gwalior, for over a month. The missing constables, Akanksha Nikhar from Jabalpur and Shahana Khatoon from Murshidabad, West Bengal, were trainers at the academy since 2021. As per a TOI report, they disappeared on June 6, 2024. Authorities have alerted BSF units along international borders about their disappearance. The investigation has taken an unexpected turn following the discovery of “suspicious activity” on the constables’ phones. Tracing the phone records revealed that their devices were active in Delhi, Howrah, and Behrampore in West Bengal, near Murshidabad. Investigators are analyzing phone records and CCTV footage from these locations to understand the constables' travel patterns and investigate any potential connections to Shahana’s family in West Bengal. The last confirmed sighting of the constables was at Beacon Hospital in Behrampore on June 7, as verified by CCTV footage. Both their phones have been switched off since their departure from the hospital.
