Axar Patel named captain of Delhi Capitals ahead of IPL 2025
Delhi Capitals on Friday announced Axar Patel as their captain for IPL 2025. The all-rounder was the franchise's top retention for Rs 16.5 crore ahead of the mega auction. Patel has played for DC since 2019. He does not have a lot of experience in the leadership role, but was also named India's vice-captain in January. The 31-year-old has led Gujarat in 23 matches across formats, most recent being in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2024-25. He captained DC in one IPL match last year. Itwas a must-win fixture that they lost to RCB to miss out on the playoffs, when Rishabh Pant was serving a ban for a slow over-rate. The team entered the mega aution in search for a captain after Pant exited the franchise ahead of the mega auction. They had KL Rahul as another option, when he was bough for Rs 14 crore. However, DC has chosen their most experienced player. Patel has played 82 games for them across six seasons. Last year he scored 235 runs at an average of nearly 30 and took 11 wickets with an economy rate of 7.65. He comes into this year's IPL after having played a key role in India Champions Trophy title. He took five wickets with an economy rate of 4.35 and made vital contributions batting at No. 5 in the tournament.

Subscribe to enjoy similar stories. Air passengers in Delhi’s national capital region can expect cheaper fares if they fly out of Noida’s Jewar airport, as airlines are seeking discounts on various charges for shifting to the new airport that is likely to begin operations in the second half of 2025. Airports impose several charges on carriers for using their amenities, including landing fees and parking fees (based on weight of the aircraft), charges for air traffic control services, ground handling fees (like baggage handling), and terminal charges for using passenger facilities.

Uttar Pradesh goes past Delhi with over 15k companies registered in FY25 so far
As many as 15,590 new companies were registered in UP between April 2024 and January 2025, compared with 12,759 in Delhi, data from the corporate affairs ministry showed. Maharashtra added about 21,000 new companies in this period. Company incorporations indicate investor confidence in the medium-to-long term growth prospects of a state, among other reasons. Strong economic growth in recent years, a vast and expanding consumer base, greater focus on ease of doing business and a large pool of affordable workers, on top of improved law and order situation, have drawn investors to UP, experts and a state government official said. The national capital’s proximity to Noida, a key industrial centre in UP, also helps draw investors there, the official said, given that real estate costs are lower there than in Delhi.

$10 billion bhujia: What's behind Haldiram's stratospheric valuation?
Haldiram Snacks Food, India's biggest maker of bhujia and other ethnic snacks, Singaporean private equity firm Temasek signed a definitive agreement to buy 10% in the company at a valuation of $10 billion on Tuesday night, ET has reported based on information from executives directly aware of the developments. To command such a high valuation, Haldiram promoters, the Agarwal family, had been sprucing up its operations. The two business branches of the Haldiram group, Delhi and Nagpur, are being merged through a plan approved by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT). The promoter family also roped in a professional CEO in May 2023, a first for the company. Yet, the $10 billion ask by the promoters was not found convincing by several interested parties even though the iconic brand that started in 1937 with a tiny shop in the city of Bikaner in Rajasthan has grown into a mega business sprawling across products as well as territories, commanding leadership in a highly fragmented sector of ethnic savouries and snacks.
