Lok Sabha polls: Azam Khan loyalists to be under test in Rampur
Azam Khan from Rampur politics has left party workers in a dilemma whether to vote for his alternative or keep their allegiance to the stalwart who has won the constituency a record 10 times. Khan, who is currently lodged in Sitapur jail, has been replaced by Mohibullah Nadvi, a cleric of a mosque located on Delhi's Parliament Street. Changing party candidates may be normal for any other Lok Sabha constituency, but in the case of Rampur, it is not at all trivial. Asim Raja, a close aide of Azam Khan, had also filed his nomination describing himself an SP candidate, despite the party giving ticket to Nadvi. His nomination was rejected during scrutiny.

Supreme Court seeks ED's response by April 24 on Arvind Kejriwal's arrest plea
Has ECI taken the colour off India’s poll campaigns? The Delhi High Court had upheld the arrest of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader on April 9, arguing that the investigative agency was with "little option" after he skipped repeated summonses and refused to join the investigation. Kejriwal while approaching the Supreme Court on April 11, contended in the appeal that his arrest was "motivated by extraneous considerations." The High Court had said that Kejriwal's absence from nine ED summons over six months undermined any claims of special privilege as Chief Minister, suggesting his arrest was an inevitable consequence of his non-cooperation.
