Why some parents love schools with less than 100 students
Subscribe to enjoy similar stories. Gurugram: It all began with an unassuming poster, pinned to a wall at a local Bandra library during the pandemic: “Tired of Zoom classes? Presenting Comini Learning Pods." It led curious parents to Priyanka Rai and Sai Gaddam, who had then just moved to Mumbai and were looking for alternative schooling options for their own children. As they began to speak to interested parents, the idea of a learning pod (where a small group of children learn together) turned into something bigger but small enough to suit their needs: Comini Microschool.

Mumbai to get new policy for iconic buildings: Eknath Shinde
Eknath Shinde told the legislative council on Wednesday. «Some iconic buildings from the British era have given Mumbai a unique identity. To preserve this legacy and promote architecturally distinctive buildings in Mumbai, the state government has prepared a special policy,» Shinde said. Highlighting the importance of such developments, Shinde said that cities across the world are known for their unique urban planning, neighbourhoods, and landmark buildings. «Mumbai too, being a world-class city, deserves to encourage such iconic structures that will not only beautify the city but also strengthen its appeal as a tourist destination,» he said. The deputy CM said that the current Development Control and Promotion Regulations (DCPR) applicable to Mumbai pose limitations in facilitating the construction of distinctive structures. To address this, he said, the government has proposed separate provisions within the existing regulations to accommodate buildings that can become a symbol of the metropolis.

In response, an X user asked him why he did not stand up for Ranaut when her home was demolished in 2020, to which he retorted, “Was her house vandalised? Did goons enter her premises? Did they do this to challenge her freedom of expression or for alleged FSI violations? Please enlighten me. Maybe I don't know the facts." Ranaut, not to mince words, fired back. She stated how she was called slurs and her home was wrecked with bulldozers before the courts opened. 'Will not accept if it leads to tyranny': Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis on Kamra's remark on Eknath Shinde
Devendra Fadnavis has taken a strong stand on the alleged disparaging remarks made by stand-up artist Kunal Kamra against the state deputy CM Eknath Shinde. The Chief Minister while speaking in the state Assembly on Monday stated that the government would not accept freedom of expression if it leads to tyranny. The chief minister said, «We appreciate humour and satire. We accept political satire, but we do not accept freedom of expression if it leads to tyranny.» He stated that Kamra staged «low-quality» comedy. «This artist makes statements against the Prime Minister, the Chief Justice; he wants to gain fame by creating controversy. He targeted Eknath Shinde and staged low-quality comedy,» adding that the people will decide whether Eknath Shinde is a traitor or a selfish person. Further referring to Eknath Shinde as the heir to Balasaheb Thackeray's legacy, he questioned the opposition, asking whether they had given a «supari» for the stand-up show. «Balasaheb Thackeray's legacy is with Eknath Shinde… and those on the opposite bench support him, have you given a supari? This Kamra tweeted a photo of the Constitution; if he had read the Constitution, he would not have committed such atrocities,» he added.

Kamra show row: Fadnavis must recover damages from Shiv Sainiks involved in vandalism, says Raut
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Monday demanded that Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis recover damages from Shiv Sainiks who vandalised the studio where stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra's show was shot. Speaking to reporters, Raut alleged that there was «gunda raj» (hooliganism) in the state capital and said Fadnavis was incapable of handling the home department. The Mumbai police have registered an FIR against Kamra for allegedly making defamatory remarks against Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde during a show. The police also registered a case against nearly 40 Shiv Sena workers for allegedly vandalising the Habitat Studio in Mumbai's Khar area, where Kamra's show with «gaddar» (traitor) jibe at Shinde was filmed, and a hotel where the studio is located. The comedian taunted Shinde using a modified version of a Hindi song from the film «Dil To Pagal Hai», eliciting laughter from the audience. Raut said Kamra hadn't named anyone in the satire song and questioned the need for the agitated reaction.
