Netflix on Saturday shared the first look of actor Fardeen Khan from "Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar", the upcoming period drama series that marks filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's OTT debut. The streamer also unveiled the character posters of senior actor Shekhar Suman and his son Adhyayan Suman as well as Taha Shah from the show, set during the freedom struggle movement in India. With «Heeramandi», Khan is making a return to acting after a gap of nearly 15 years. He was last seen in 2010's «Dulha Mil Gaya». The 50-year-old actor, known for movies such as «Jungle», "Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya", «Bhoot», «Dev» and «No Entry», plays the character of Wali Mohammed in the show.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is gearing up for 'Samuhik Upwas' or mass fasting on Sunday to register its protest against the arrest of party chief and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal in the excise policy scam. Earlier, AAP leader Gopal Rai gave details of the event which, he said, is aimed at showing solidarity for the party chief. The day's itinerary would include a congregation of supporters at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and Khatkar Kalan in Punjab, the ancestral village of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, where AAP leaders and party workers would observe mass fast.

The eight seats are Buldhana, Akola, Amravati, Wardha, Yavatmal-Washim in the state's Vidarbha region and Hingoli, Nanded and Parbhani in Marathwada. The last date for withdrawal of nomination is April 8. A total of 352 candidates had submitted nomination forms for these eight seats, the official said.

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Shirsat on Saturday met Maharashtra Navnirman Sena president Raj Thackeray amid talks of the latter's party joining the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance. Shirsat, a spokesperson of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, termed the meeting at Thackeray's residence Shivthirth in Dadar as personal. He said his relation with Raj Thackeray goes back to the time when the latter used to accompany Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray on Marathwada tours more than two decades back.

Shiv Sena on Thursday fielded Rajashree Patil, wife of Hingoli MP Hemant Patil, from Yavatmal-Washim Lok Sabha constituency in eastern Maharashtra in place of the party's sitting MP Bhavana Gawli. In Hingoli in central Maharashtra, the party led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde replaced sitting MP Hemant Patil, giving ticket to Baburao Kadam-Kohlikar instead.

AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Thursday said the six months he spent in jail boosted his morale and strengthened his resolve to raise his voice against "injustice and dictatorship". Singh, who walked out of Tihar jail on Wednesday, told PTI that his jailed party colleagues — Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia and former minister Satyendar Jain — will also be released soon. Singh had been lodged in the high-security prison in the national capital since October 13, 2023. He was arrested on October 4 last year in connection with an excise policy-linked money laundering case. He was granted bail by the Supreme Court on Tuesday. Kejriwal and Sisodia have also been arrested in the same case, while Jain is in jail in connection with a separate money laundering case.

AAP leader Sandeep Pathak on Wednesday said Arvind Kejriwal, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate last month, is the Delhi Chief Minister and will continue to hold the post, ruling out that he will resign. He alleged that part of the conspiracy of BJP was that they would first arrest Kejriwal and say he should resign and then try to break the AAP. ED on March 21, is currently in judicial custody in Tihar jail. On March 22, the trial court remanded him to six days of ED custody, which was extended by further four days. On April 01, he was remanded to judicial custody till April 15.

Sanjay Shukla, who has quit the Congress and joined the BJP, and three others proposing a fine of Rs 140.60 crore for alleged illegal mining of 'murum' (mixed) soil and stones, officials said on Wednesday. The mining department has unearthed illegal mining in two places of 5.50 hectares and 3.40 hectares in Baroli village adjoining Indore in Madhya Pradesh, they said. A fine of Rs 140.60 crore is proposed to be imposed on Shukla and three others under the Madhya Pradesh Minerals (Prevention of Illegal Mining, Transport and Storage) Rules 2022 for this illegal mining, the officials said. Besides Shukla, the other respondents in the notice are his brother Rajendra Shukla, president of the Eden Garden Housing Cooperative Society Limited, and Baroli village resident Meharban Singh Rajput, they said.

Sanjay Raut on Tuesday said the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) is still interested in holding seat-sharing talks with the Prakash Ambedkar-led Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA), which has already declared candidates for several Lok Sabha seats. Talking to reporters, Raut reiterated his demand to scrap electronic voting machines (EVMs) and conduct polls on ballot papers, claiming that the BJP will bear the brunt if polling is not conducted on EVMs. Prakash Ambedkar was in talks with the MVA, comprising the Congress, the Nationalist Congress (Sharadchandra Pawar) and the Shiv Sena (UBT), for the Lok Sabha polls but recently announced candidates for 20 out of 48 seats. The Sena (UBT) leader claimed that Ambedkar's party stopped talks with the MVA, which had given it a proposal for five seats, including Akola, Ramtek, Dhule and a seat in Mumbai.

Statements of five 'Angadiya' firm operators have also been recorded by the ED to establish the «money trail» of this alleged Rs 45 crore bribe amount.
