Controversy erupts over Arun Govil's statement on Constitution: Here is what he said
Arun Govil, BJP's Lok Sabha candidate from Meerut, discussing potential changes to the Constitution, has stirred controversy. Responding to allegations that the Modi government plans to alter the Constitution, Govil emphasized the evolution of the Constitution over time and the need for consensus for any changes. A video has gone viral on social media in which he can be seen talking about the Constitution. Answering a question by a reporter on the opposition's allegation that the Modi government will change the Constitution after coming to power again at the Centre, Arun Govil said, «The Constitution has witnessed changes over a period of time. Change is a sign of development. It's not a bad thing. Situations were different at that time; the current situation is different, so if changes are to be made… The Constitution doesn't change with one person's intention. It can be changed with everybody's consensus. If anything happens...» he can be heard saying in the viral video. Kejriwal's Cabinet, Raaj Anand, resigned and quit AAP accusing it of corruption. His resignation follows a summons by ED to appear on April 12. Addressing a press conference to announce his resignation, he said, «I had stepped into politics when Kejriwal had said that politics will change. But today, with a lot of regret, I am saying that the politics has not changed but the leaders have. AAP was born out of the anti-corruption movement but now the party is steeped in corruption. It has become untenable for me to continue as a minister.» His residence was raided in November 2023 in a money laundering case by ED not connected to the liquor probe. Hours before his resignation, Anand had shared AAP MP Sanjay Singh's press meet link on social media.

After Japan, Hudco looks to tap Singapore, Taiwan for funds
HUDCO) is looking to tap East Asian countries such as Singapore and Taiwan to raise funds this fiscal year after a similar successful exercise in Japan, chairman and managing director Sanjay Kulshrestha told ET. «Japan was the maiden attempt to raise funds via external commercial borrowing, and we have been received very well. There is a good arbitrage; we are getting funds at 6.5%-80-100 bps lesser than the domestic funds,» said Kulshreshta, noting that the company's fundraising may surpass its original aim. HUDCO was planning to raise $100 million from Japan but is confident of landing nearly double that amount. Kulshreshta, who took charge of HUDCO last year, said the company may even tap the US market after the Fed initiates rate cuts.
