Goa's tourism numbers being circulated on social media platforms is a cause of 'significant concern' among local communities and investors and stakeholders of Goa, and the state government has registered a formal complaint to take cognizance of the matter, said Rohan A Khaunte, minister for tourism, information technology, electronics and communications and printing and stationary for Goa, in an interview with ET. Khaunte said an influx of tourism in any destination brings with it a set of issues and concerns and the state is working with trade bodies to address issues around high rates in the year end season besides allaying concerns around public transportation. The state is also working on boosting connectivity from Southeast Asian markets and other European countries, he said.

Revenue Minister K Rajan said 100 days have passed since the massive landslides rocked the hamlets of Wayanad, but the state was yet to receive any assistance from the union government for its rehabilitation. The «negative approach» adopted by the Centre in terms of the rehabilitation of Wayanad was 'painful' for the state, he told reporters here. ITC Limited, India’s leading multi-business conglomerates, has commissioned its second offsite solar plant in Karnataka with a capacity of 9.45 MW in the Davangere district. The facility is ITC’s 4th offsite solar plant in the country, with similar units earlier built in Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka. The company had set itself the target to meet 100% of electricity requirements from renewable sources by 2030 as a part of its ambitious Sustainability 2.0 Vision. In FY 2023-24, over 50% of ITC’s total energy requirements were already met from renewable sources such as solar, wind and biomass. Total Energy includes electrical energy as well as thermal energy.

Supreme Court has sought a response from the government and the Central Board of Direct Taxes on vaccine maker Serum Institute of India's appeal challenging a 2015 amendment to the Income Tax Act that made subsidy, grant, waivers, concessions or reimbursements by Centre or states or incentives in cash or kind taxable. The amendment had inserted sub-clause (xviii) to Section 2(24), which defines taxable “income”. A Bench led by Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud on Monday issued notice to the government and asked it respond in four weeks.

The court was hearing a petition by journalist Raqib Hameed, founder of Hindutva Watch, seeking to quash the Centre's blocking order issued under the Information Technology Act.

GE Aerospace plans to boost component sourcing from India as the aviation sector in the country expands. GE Aerospace already operates a manufacturing facility in Pune and the John F Welch Technology Centre in Bengaluru. Mahendra Nair, Group Vice President for Commercial Programs at GE Aerospace, mentioned the growing importance of India's role in their supply chain. India has pledged NRs 474 million to build 12 High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) in Nepal in the education, health, agriculture, drinking water and culture sectors, according to an official statement. The Embassy of India here and the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration of the Nepalese government signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) for the projects on Friday. The 12 projects are being undertaken with the grant assistance of NRs 474 million from the Indian government. These include the construction of school buildings and a multipurpose foundation building, according to a press release issued by the Embassy of India here. The projects also include the constructions of the Basepu-Hulu Water Supply Project in Solukhumbu, a building for the Agriculture Promotion Centre for Food Grain Collection and Distribution Centre in Bajura, a Health Post-Birthing Centre in Dhading, and the Operation Theatre Building of Rapti Eye Hospital in Dang.

Himachal Pradesh Congress on Monday challenged Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut to prove her allegation that the state government took loans and diverted the money to Sonia Gandhi, failing which it said it would file a defamation case against her. Himachal Pradesh minister Vikramaditya Singh told reporters that her comments showed the BJP MP's «intellectual bankruptcy». «There cannot be a bigger foolish statement than saying that funds coming from the Centre or the state's funds for development are being given to Sonia Gandhi,» he said. «I openly challenge BJP MP Kangana Ranaut to show proof of even Rs 1 being diverted or apologise to Congress leader Sonia Gandhi for making such baseless and unwarranted allegations against her. Otherwise, the Congress will file a defamation case against her,» the minister added.
