How women formed a vote bank parties can ignore at own risk
Lok Sabha polls in the coming months, 'Nari Shakti' has taken centrestage. When thin margins can become a deciding factor on a large number of seats, no party can ignore this demographic which has coalesced into a new vote bank as more women are getting educated and participating in the labour force, thus gaining independence in making political choices. It has been seen in the recent past how welfare schemes or freebies targeted at women have influenced election results. BJP's Ladli Behna scheme is considered a big factor behind the party's victory in the Madhya Pradesh elections last year while cash handouts to female heads of families and free bus rides for women tipped the scales in favour of Congress in Karnataka elections. Both BJP and Congress have focused their political campaigns on empowering women, with the BJP promoting schemes like the Ladli Behna, slashing LPG prices and highlighting its role in passing Women's Reservation Bill, while the Congress has promised monthly financial aid among other benefits. Additionally, regional parties are also making concerted efforts to appeal to women voters.

Christina and Moinuddin Chippa, a resident of Rajasthan, are based in Russia and were facilitating the trafficking of Indian youth to Russia by offering them lucrative job opportunities there, officials said. The central probe agency's FIR has listed 17 other Visa consultancy companies, their owners and agents spread across India, they said.

Shattering the Silence: Paving the path for cardiovascular wellness and diabetes care through the lens of Indian women
Did you know that according to studies published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, the prevalence of coronary artery disease in Indian women ranges from 3% to 13% depending on the age group and has increased by almost 300% over the past two decades and the prevalence of heart failure in women in India more than doubled from 1.1% in 2000 to 2.6% in 2015? The mean age of heart attack in Indian women is 59 years, which is much lower than the average age of heart attack in women in developed countries. Hence, it is imperative to talk about heart health through the lens of gender inequities in India.

Education loan moratorium can hike Rs7.5 lakh loan to over Rs 10lakh even before EMI repayment starts: Be careful
While some parents choose to pay the interest amount regularly during the study period, many other parents are unable to do so, and they primarily depend on a moratorium given with the education loan. A moratorium period allows them to push the repayment period by a few years, so that the student can get a job after completing the course and repay the loan herself or himself. While the moratorium period can ease the repayment burden for students and parents during the study period, it may come at the cost of a higher repayment burden for students if the education loans are not subsidised by the government.

Women's Day: How can women ensure optimum financial health?
«Women need to financially empower themselves through financial independence, literacy and planning. Wealth is not solely measured by what you earn but also by what you do with those earnings — prudently planning your savings and creating a portfolio of assets — financial and physical. To achieve true financial empowerment, I encourage women to invest in learning and understanding the nuances of personal finance and eventually take informed decisions that align with their goals and aspirations. Holistic financial independence is not merely about earning or delegating decisions to others; it's about being actively involved and knowledgeable about your investments in depth. By doing so, you not only gain a sense of accomplishment but also set the stage for a secure and empowered future.” Pursue Financial Literacy: Neha Sampat. FTA ‘possible' before India elections, says UK trade minister Kemi Badenoch
UK Secretary of State for Business and Trade Kemi Badenoch has said. The minister in charge of signing off on the free trade agreement (FTA), now in its 14th round of negotiations, pointed to India's «protectionist economy» in comparison with the UK's liberalised regime as one of the factors behind the long-drawn discussions. Badenoch, who was speaking during a Global Trade conference at the think tank Chatham House on Thursday, stressed that she wanted to ensure a “commercially meaningful” pact as opposed to just a pre-election picture opportunity.
