India hosts fewer than 10 micro data centres: paper
micro data centres (MDCs), which are small facilities designed to handle critical CPU and GPU workloads that require lesser space and needs lower investments, a paper published by Nandan Nilekani-backed people+ai has found. The organisation’s brainchild, the Open Cloud Compute (OCC) project advocates a distributed network of micro data centres. The OCC network, unveiled by Nilekani in May, hopes to onboard at least three compute providers for a pilot by October, ET had reported on August 28. The pilot will likely be powering a hackathon at a university for undergraduate students via OCC.

Sony India to revamp SET, plug content gap
Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI), under its new CEO Gaurav Banerjee, is undergoing a strategic overhaul to revitalise the company, with one of the primary focuses being to revamp Sony Entertainment Television (SET), its flagship Hindi general entertainment channel (GEC), according to multiple executives familiar with the developments. SET holds only 8% of the market, trailing behind competitors like Star Plus, Colors, and Zee TV. While SET has a strong lineup of non-fiction shows such as Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), Shark Tank India, and MasterChef, it lacks a strong fiction show, a staple for Hindi GEC audiences. Banerjee, with over a decade of experience managing Hindi and regional entertainment channels as well as Disney+ Hotstar's entertainment portfolio, is expected to address this content gap.

Treat your customers as RoIlty
customer satisfaction and acquisition while making every marketing dollar count. This emphasis on strategy alignment empowers us to shape the future of marketing in banks. Banks are increasingly investing in corporate branding, celebrity endorsements and targeted marketing for segments like startups and MSMEs to drive digital adoption. The ability to execute swift, need-based marketing campaigns is crucial. For banks focused on deepening customer engagement and loyalty, embedding marketing at the core of their transformation strategy is imperative. As a result, some banks have increased marketing spend to 30-40% y-o-y. However, organisations are struggling to get the desired RoI. Convergence of traditional (TV ads, etc) and digital marketing (online ads, etc) platforms is critical to improving marketing RoI. Linking brand and marketing efforts to enterprise value — driven by revenue growth, customer loyalty in the short-to-medium term, and brand equity over the long term — is essential.

Kamat Hotels (India), the Bombay High Court has directed a clutch of online travel portals including Makemytrip, Goibibo, Booking.com B.V. and Agoda to take down the listings of a company that allegedly infringed the trademark of its brand 'The Orchid'. The BSE-listed hotel chain Kamat Hotels had approached the court against city-based firm Orchid Service Apartment with the argument that the company was infringing its trademark by running a service apartment/hotel and rendering services under the trade mark 'The Orchid'. «The identity/close and deceptive similarity of the rival marks and the services cannot be a mere coincidence,» observed Justice RI Chagla in his order of September 18.
