Sexual assault case: Court adjourns HD Revanna's plea, next hearing on Friday
Karnataka High Court on Monday adjourned JDS MLA HD Revanna's plea on quashing the first information report (FIR) filed against him in a case of alleged abduction of a sexual assault survivor from her home in Mysuru district. The high court will hear the case on Friday. Revanna, a former minister and son of former prime minister HD Deve Gowda, was booked last month on accusations of kidnapping one of the alleged survivors of sexual abuse by his son Prajwal Revanna, who is BJP-led NDA's candidate from Hassan in this Lok Sabha election.

All 11 candidates for MLC polls in Karnataka likely to get elected unopposed

Names of Amit Shah, Kishan Reddy dropped from FIR in Hyderabad
names of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Telangana BJP chief G Kishan Reddy have been dropped from an FIR, filed on a complaint relating to the alleged use of minors in a poll campaign of the saffron party here last month, police said on Monday. In the complaint to the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), TPCC vice-president G Niranjan alleged that on May 1 during a BJP rally from Laldawaza to Sudha Talkies, a few minor children were on the dais with Shah. The CEO forwarded it to the city police for a factual report, resulting in the registration of an FIR against Shah, Reddy, BJP candidate for the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat K Madhavi Latha, Legislator T Raja Singh and BJP leader T Yaman Singh. However, after due inquiry, it was found that Amit Shah and Kishan Reddy had no role in the incident, a police official said.

LS polls: Delhi Police issues traffic advisory ahead of counting of votes on Tuesday
Delhi Police has issued an advisory regarding the traffic arrangements which are being made in the national capital on Tuesday in view of counting of votes of general elections, officials said. The 2024 general elections were held in seven phases between April 19 to June 1. Counting of votes will be taken up on June 4. The counting of votes will take place at seven locations in the city. In northeast Delhi, it will take place at ITI Nand Nagri. The movement of traffic on the stretch from Gagan Cinema T-Point to Nand Nagri Flyover on Wazirabad road (Mangal Pandey Road) will be restricted from 5 am onwards, the advisory said.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Monday said the opposition INDI alliance will announce its prime ministerial candidate within 24 hours of the Lok Sabha poll results being declared. Counting of votes nationwide for the seven-phase polls, which ended on June 1, will take place from 8am on Tuesday. Asked about the PM candidate of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), which comprises the Shiv Sena (UBT) and several opposition parties led by the Congress, Raut said, «We have many candidates for the post of PM but what about the BJP? The INDI alliance will announce its prime ministerial candidate within 24 hours of the results being declared.» All the leaders of the opposition bloc will meet in Delhi and the announcement will be made there, the Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP asserted.

Lok Sabha election results on Tuesday, there are 2,572 candidates who are crorepatis while 1,643 candidates have criminal cases registered against themselves, according to poll rights body ADR. An analysis by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and National Election Watch has shed light on the profiles of the candidates. Out of the 8,360 candidates contesting, 8,337 have been analysed, revealing significant insights into their backgrounds, including criminal records, financial status, education, and gender representation. The analysis revealed that 20 per cent of the candidates have declared criminal cases against themselves, marking an increase from 19 per cent in 2019, 17 per cent in 2014, and 15 per cent in 2009.
