Babbar's candidacy was officially announced by the Congress on April 30, with Congress leader and former Haryana minister Ajay Singh Yadav also being a strong contender for the seat.
In contrast, BJP's Rao Inderjit Singh, a veteran five-time parliamentarian who has represented Gurgaon three times since 2009, presents himself as a local leader who understands and addresses the needs and aspirations of the people.
He is banking on the development works carried out in Gurugram during his tenure as MP as well as his local connect.
