BJP trying to 'intimidate' Hindu voters in J-K: Farooq Abdullah
Farooq Abdullah on Sunday said the BJP top brass was focussing its election campaign on Jammu as they want to «intimidate» the Hindu voters of Jammu and Kashmir by creating false fears. He also accused the BJP of misleading the people by claiming that terrorism will rise again if the National Conference and Congress alliance came to power in Jammu and Kashmir. «They (BJP) want to threaten the Hindu community. They think the Hindus will vote for them but today the Hindus have changed. First they (BJP) sought votes in the name of Ram and now they want to intimidate them,» Abdullah charged. He was speaking to reporters at Naseembagh mausoleum of National Conference founder Sheikh Muhammad Abdulla after paying tributes to the party founder on his 42nd death anniversary.

Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan on Saturday held extensive talks with Maldives' Chief of Defence Force Major General Ibrahim Hilmy, focusing on a reset of military ties that came under severe strain after President Mohamed Muizzu assumed office in November last. India presents a different picture than 10 years ago, says Dhankhar; heaps praise on PM Modi, UP CM
foreign exchange reserves of USD 680 billion, India has come a long a way since the time it had to pledge its gold to tide over a financial crisis, Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar said on Saturday. Dhankhar was speaking during the inauguration programme of Uttar Pradesh Sainik School in Gorakhpur. «Today's India presents a completely different picture than what was 10 years ago. There was a time when the same country, which was referred to as 'sone ki chidiya', had to pledge its gold in foreign banks. Back then, our foreign exchange was between USD 1 billion and USD 2 billion. Today, it is USD 680 billion. Look at the kind of progress we have made since,» he said. India's foreign exchange reserves jumped by USD 2.299 billion to a new high of USD 683.987 billion for the week ended on August 30.

"Reflects mindset of INDIA alliance which backs terrorist": BJP reacts to Abdullah's remarks
BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari on Saturday reacted to former JK CM Omar Abdullah's remarks on Afzal Guru and said that his statement reflects mindset of INDIA alliance which is about backing the terrorists. Bhandari further praised PM Modi and his policies for Jammu and Kashmir and said that PM Modi has always a vision of development. BJP National Spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari said, «Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for Jammu and Kashmir has been a vision of development. It has been a vision which has ensured that there is no terror or terror is uprooted from the valley. On the other hand, the Congress party, Rahul Gandhi and Omar Abdullah, believe in giving soft support to terrorists. Omar Abdullah said that if it had been in his capacity, he would not have allowed Afzal Guru's hanging, a terrorist's hanging. This speaks volumes about the mindset of the INDI Alliance, which is about backing the terrorists. In the last 10 years, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed no stone pelting incident and the terror in the valley has gone down. We are extremely confident that that the people of Jammu and Kashmir will choose a BJP-led government in order to continue to be on the path of development.»

Caste census: Will Modi try and hijack another Congress guarantee, asks Jairam Ramesh
Narendra Modi 'hijack' another of Congress' guarantees, the party's general secretary in-charge communications, Jairam Ramesh, asked on September 3 with respect to the ongoing debate around caste census. In may be noted here that the debate over caste census continues to stir political discourse in India, highlighting the complexities of addressing historically marginalised communities while balancing social welfare and electoral strategy. The Congress questioned whether Modi will take up the mantle of conducting a caste census after the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) indicated no objection to it, provided the data is used for welfare and not politics. This inquiry comes after the RSS's statement on Monday during a three-day coordination conclave in Palakkad, Kerala, where it addressed the sensitive nature of caste-related issues for Hindu society.

BJP launches membership drive, seeks to tap youth, women, aspirational sections
Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged upon them to undertake the party’s membership drive with renewed vigor and in a festive spirit. He emphasized that fresh blood in the organization should come from the youth, women and those living in tribal and aspirational blocks in the hinterland while the exercise should begin from areas where the party has done badly in the polls. BJP launched its ambitious membership drive, which includes renewal of association of those already in the party, here on Monday with organisation’s chief JP Nadda making Modi the first member through a missed call to a dedicated number. As per Article 9 of the BJP constitution, the membership has to be renewed every six years. In his speech, Modi said BJP has grown from a fledging party that faced a lot of ridicule in its initial days due to its poor strength to where it stands today. He recalled the struggles and sacrifices of generations of party workers. The journey, he underlined, has been not just ideological but emotional as well.
