RCB gives 5,500% hike to this player, it is not Virat Kohli
Royal Challengers Bengaluru assembled a strong side in the IPL 2025 auction held on Sunday and Monday at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The franchise had retained star batter Virat Kohli for Rs 21 crore, Rajat Patidar for Rs 11 crore and uncapped pacer Yash Dayal for Rs 5 crore. They also made a few big buys in the auction, including Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood for Rs 12.5 crore, England's Liam Livingtone and Phil Salt for Rs 8.75 crore and Rs 11.50 crores. However, it was the Indian wicket-keeper batter Jitesh Sharma who was the biggest gainer. The franchise shelled out Rs 11 crore on the finisher. He got a salary hike of 5,500 per cent — which is an IPL record by some distance. The amount he will receive in the 2025 season is 55 times more than his previous IPL salary of Rs 20 lakh. He was picked up for his base price by PBKS in the IPL 2022 mega auction and then retained him for the same price for the next two seasons.

Mohammed Zubair charged of endangering the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of India
Ghaziabad Police on Wednesday told the Allahabad High Court that it has added a new charge against Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair. The charge for “endangering the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of India” was made under relevant sections of the IT Act in their October 8 FIR. The statement came when the high court was hearing the journalist's plea seeking to quash the FIR against him over sharing a video clip of Narsinghanand. Zubair’s lawyer Vrinda Grover said, “When the matter was being heard on Monday, the state (UP Police) kept saying that they had added more sections to the FIR. The court then asked them to put it on record. This morning, when they filed an affidavit, the Investigating Officer informed the court that they have added two new sections —152 and 66 of the IT act.”

‘Incredible snow totals’: Squalls to hit parts of Ontario, up to 80 cm possible
Ontario are set to see “incredible snow totals” over the next few days due to a shift in temperatures over the Great Lakes.Water temperatures across the lakes has been at record mild levels given the calm fall so far, Global News meteorologist Anthony Farnell said. However, a looming change in temperature between the lake and the air will create “ideal conditions” for lake effect snow, he added.“Areas downwind of all five Great Lakes will see some incredible snow totals this upcoming weekend and travel will be difficult at best,” Farnell said.“The Lake Huron and Georgian Bay snow squalls will quickly intensify early Friday morning and continue right into early next week.”Farnell added because water temperatures are still so mild, areas right near those will see a heavier, wet snow that will limit amounts at least initially. As the wind shifts slightly, the snow squalls will also shift, bringing the heaviest snow amounts to different communities depending on the day.In the most intense squalls, snow rates could reach as high as 8 cm per hour with thunder and lightning, he said.“By Monday, snow totals could reach as high as 80 cm under the more persistent snow squalls.
