Caliza launches in Brazil to help banks and fintechs provide access to US economy
Better Tomorrow Ventures and Abstract Ventures led the round, with participation from Fontes by QED, Quona Capital and Valor Capital Group.Caliza says that financial institutions outside of America don't make US dollar accounts widely available to individuals or small businesses because of cost and complexity. This means that Brazilian companies and individuals pay a premium for access to international merchants and services ranging from Amazon Web Services and Slack to Walmart and Apple. Caliza is looking to change this by becoming the first company to build infrastructure for a suite of compliance, banking, and payment services through USD Coin.Firms can embed its API infrastructure to offer digital dollar accounts, real-time cross-border payments, and fiat-to-crypto on and off ramps.

Apple disputes French findings, says iPhone 12 meets radiation rules
Apple said on Wednesday its iPhone 12 model was certified by multiple international bodies as compliant with global radiation standards after a French watchdog ordered it to stop selling the handset on the grounds it breaches European exposure limits. The ANFR radiation watchdog told Apple on Tuesday to halt sales of iPhone 12s in France after tests which it said showed the phone's Specific Absorption Rate (SAR)- a measure of the rate of radiofrequency energy absorbed by the body from a piece of equipment — was higher than legally allowed.

Indians likely to lap up iPhone 15 base models more than they wanted iPhone 14 base: Analysts
iPhone 15 base model, announced at Apple’s marquee fall event Tuesday, is expected to see a higher uptake in India as compared to the iPhone 14 base model last year, on account of significant design and feature upgrades, market trackers said. Locally made iPhone 15 base model is expected to be made available in the first wave of launch, making it the first time that both China and India-made units will go on sale the same day. Market trackers said this underpins the optimism and confidence Apple has from the South Asian nation, amidst increasing diversification of its supply chain in China. Tarun Pathak, research director at Counterpoint Research, predicted that the iPhone 15 base model is expected to sell 1.5 times more than the iPhone 14 base model last year, on account of significant differentiation. “The iPhone 15 base model will be more popular this time, due to the Dynamic Island, OLED display, and 48MP cameras. We expect it to sell 1.5 times more than the iPhone 14 in the first wave of sale,” Pathak said. Prabhu Ram, head of the Industry Intelligence Group at CMR added that the iPhone 15 model is the most compelling base variant from Apple in a long time. “The base model will appeal to upgraders upgrading from older generation iPhones, as well as switchers for whom the Pro models are out of reach”.
