IIM Shillong celebrated its 16th Annual Convocation Friday. The ceremony witnessed the conferment of degrees upon 475 graduating students, including 381 from the Post Graduate Programme (PGP) 2023–25 batch. Around 54 from the Post Graduate Programme for Executives (PGPEx) 2024–25 batch, and 35 from the Post Graduate Programme for Working Executives (PGPWE) 2023–25 batch. In addition, five scholars were awarded the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree. Shishir Kumar Bajoria, Chairman of the Board of Governors, IIM Shillong, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the graduating students and their families.

So what can be puzzling about his elevation of Argentina to the front row of America's allies — Milei and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni were the only world leaders onstage at Trump's inauguration — is that the chronically distressed South American nation is not particularly important as an economic or geopolitical partner. Instead, through Milei, Argentina has offered Trump something else he appears to crave: adoration. «I love him because he loves Trump,» Trump said of Milei in a speech last year. «Anybody that loves me, I like them.»

Manoj Kumar, the legendary actor and filmmaker celebrated for his patriotic roles, passed away at the age of 87. Fondly known as «Bharat Kumar,» he breathed his last at 4:03 am on April 4, 2025, at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. He was admitted to the hospital on February 21, 2025, and has since been under medical care.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Hitachi Energy India will jointly develop India's largest private sector power transmission project. The roughly Rs 12,000 crore contract was awarded by Adani Energy Solutions to design and deliver high-voltage direct current (HVDC) terminals.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has been awarded a contract by Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) for Operation and Maintenance of three corridors of its Phase-II: Corridor-3 (Madhavaram Milk Colony to Siruseri SIPCOT-II Metro — Indigo Line), Corridor- 4 (Lighthouse to Poonamallee Bypass -Orange Line) and Corridor-5 (Madhavaram Milk Colony to Sholinganallur — Red Line) including Maintenance Depots at Madhavaram, Poonamallee & Semmancheri. The term of the contract is 12 years from date of Commercial Operation date of the last stage of Phase II. An official statement said DMRC will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of three corridors consisting of 116.1 Kms and 112 stations.

BCCI and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) are considering retiring the Pataudi Trophy, an esteemed prize awarded to the winner of the Test cricket series between India and England. The decision, yet to be finalized, has reportedly left veteran actor Sharmila Tagore deeply disappointed. The Pataudi Trophy was first introduced in 2007 to commemorate 75 years since the first Test match between India and England in 1932. Named in honor of legendary cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and his father, Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi, the trophy symbolizes the legacy of one of India's greatest cricketing families. Designed by renowned silver and goldsmith Jocelyn Burton, the trophy is a tribute to their immense contributions to the sport. Sharmila Tagore, wife of the late Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, expressed her sentiments after learning about the decision through her son, actor Saif Ali Khan. According to her, the ECB sent an official letter to Saif, informing him of the move. While she has not personally heard from the cricket boards, she believes it is up to the BCCI whether they choose to remember Tiger Pataudi’s legacy or not. In an interview to the Hindustan Times, she said, «If the BCCI wants to or does not want to remember Tiger’s (Mansoor Ali Khan) legacy, it is for them to decide.» Reports suggest she is ‘hurt’ by the development, as the trophy has been an enduring testament to her late husband’s impact on cricket.

motor accident claims tribunal (MACT) has directed a travel company and an insurance company to pay Rs 29.4 lakh to a 50-year-old woman who sustained serious injuries in a bus accident in south Mumbai in 2018. The tribunal has permitted the insurer to recover its share from the bus owner, a TOI report stated.

The women student protest leaders of Bangladesh will be honoured with the 'Madeleine Albright Honorary Group Award', named after the first woman to serve as US Secretary of State. «A valiant group of women were key drivers in the student protest movement against violent repression in Bangladesh in July-August 2024. They demonstrated extraordinary bravery, including standing between security forces and male protestors in spite of threats and violence,» the State Department said in a statement. «When their male counterparts were arrested, these women found innovative ways to continue communication and lead the protests, defying censorship efforts, even during the complete shutdown of the Internet. The bravery and selflessness of these women amid uncertainty was the very definition of courage,» it said. However, the State Department did not name any particular individual for the award.

Lalu Prasad Yadav on Saturday urged the Rouse Avenue Court in New Delhi to discharge him in the IRCTC corruption case, asserting that there is no evidence to frame charges against him. Special judge Vishal Gogne heard the arguments on framing of charges in the IRCTC corruption case and has scheduled for April 21 for hearing the further arguments. Senior advocate Maninder Singh, counsel for Lalu Prasad Yadav, argued that there are no irregularities on the part of Lalu Prasad Yadav. The tenders were awarded in a fair manner. There is no sufficient evidences to frame charges against Lalu Prasad Yadav. He deserved to be discharged of the charges. On March 1, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had concluded its arguments on charges against former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi, RJD leader Tejaswi Yadav and other accused persons. This case is related to alleged corruption in tender of the IRCTC hotels. Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) D P Singh, along with Advocate Manu Mishra, had argued that there was corruption and conspiracy in the allotment of maintenance contracts for two hotels of IRCTC to a private company.

Music Festival have announced that The Killers will be headlining the event on July 29. The Las Vegas rock band are known for anthems like Mr Brightside and Somebody Told Me. They will be joined by The Beaches and Matt Mays for an unforgettable night. The four-piece band, as per the reports, was formed in 2002. It features singer/keyboardist Brandon Flowers, drummer Ronnie Vannucci, guitarist Dave Keuning, and bassist Mark Stoermer.
