The Legend of Zelda live-action film to release on March 26, 2027; here’s what fans can expect
Legend of Zelda? The video game franchise is now being adapted for a live-action film, with the makers announcing its theatrical release date on Friday, March 28.
The release date was shared on Nintendo Today, Nintendo’s new app, Variety reported.
This comes after a gap of roughly a year-and-a-half when the official announcement of Zelda film was made back in November 2023.
What to know about The Legend of Zelda film
Sony Pictures, which is co-producing the project along with Nintendo, is all set to debut the film on March 26, 2027.
Zelda series creator Shigeru Miyamoto had earlier shared on social media that the live-action film will be backed by him as well as Avi Arad.
Live Events
The project will be directed by Wes Ball, best known for helming The Maze Runner trilogy.
His last directorial work, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, hit screens worldwide on May 10 last year and was a commercial success. The science fiction film was even nominated for the Best Visual Effects category at the prestigious 97th Academy Awards, which took place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on March 2.
The award for the Best Visual Effects ultimately went to Dune: Part Two, directed by Denis Villeneuve.
Apart from being its director, Wes Ball is even serving as a producer on the project, accompanied by Joe Hartwick Jr., under their Oddball Entertainment banner.
