Construction equipment sector sees muted year after polls hurt Q1 sales
road construction projects and subdued demand due to general elections. While industry body Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers’ Association (ICEMA) has yet to release sales data for the quarter ended June 30, the industry estimates about 24,000 units have been sold during the three-month period, similar to the volume reported in the same period last fiscal year. Senior industry executives estimate sales of construction equipment, widely regarded as a barometer of economic activity, to remain sluggish this year.

Ambitious Delhi-Mumbai expressway project misses revised 2024 target, delayed further to 2025
Delhi-Mumbai expressway project, touted as a game-changer for Indian infrastructure, faces significant delays primarily due to land-related challenges in Gujarat. According to Times of India sources, two crucial segments totaling 62 kilometers in Gujarat only saw bidding commence in November 2023, while construction on one of these segments began in April this year, and the other started just this month. Initially slated for completion by January 2023, the project has encountered multiple setbacks, pushing the revised target to March 2024, which has also been missed. Sources reveal that constructing each stretch requires a minimum of eighteen months. To expedite progress, the project was divided into smaller 'packages' for faster execution. Officials assure that all outstanding land acquisition issues are being actively addressed. Presently, approximately 630 kilometers of the total 1,386 kilometers have been opened to traffic in various segments. Notable sections include Sohna-Dausa-Sawai Madhopur (293 km) and Jhalawar-MP/Gujarat border (245 km). Authorities express confidence that the 845-kilometer stretch from Sohna to Vadodara will be fully operational by March 2025. Subsequent sections, crucially linking to Mumbai's JNPT port, Jewar Airport in Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi's DND Flyway, are expected to follow suit.

England loses out on Euro trophy, Harry Kane wins Golden Boot instead, although shared with five others, here's why
Euro Cup 2024 has seen some interesting rules set by UEFA before the start of the championship earlier. As a result, once the prestigious tournament ended, England's Harry Kane ended up sharing his Golden Boot trophy with five other players who were also the top goal scorers in the entire tournament. This was rather due to a bizarre rule set by UEFA that suggests the highest goal scorers across the tournament will receive the Golden Boot, and if there are more than one player in this list, they will be sharing this award.

The fallout of a forensic audit: Medikabazaar founders set to lose stock options
MUMBAI : Medikabazaar’s founders Vivek Tiwari and Ketan Malkan may not be awarded the stock options due to them this year as a fallout of financial discrepancies that have surfaced in yet another instance of corporate misgovernance among Indian startups. The company’s board is contemplating cancelling the management stock options that were due to the founders at the end of June, expecting Medikabazaar to not meet its revenue and operational earnings targets for 2023-24, according to three people familiar with the deliberations.
