Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is gearing up for 'Samuhik Upwas' or mass fasting on Sunday to register its protest against the arrest of party chief and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal in the excise policy scam. Earlier, AAP leader Gopal Rai gave details of the event which, he said, is aimed at showing solidarity for the party chief. The day's itinerary would include a congregation of supporters at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and Khatkar Kalan in Punjab, the ancestral village of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, where AAP leaders and party workers would observe mass fast.

Hima Kohli, who heads the Supreme Court's committee for family court matters, on Saturday suggested legislative amendments to expand the jurisdiction of family courts and enhance their efficacy for smooth and effective disposal of cases. In her keynote address at a two-day regional conference for northern zone on family court matters, Justice Kohli said the Family Courts Act which came into being in 1984 is comprehensive but it has its limitations which contribute to the inefficacy of family courts. The order was passed on the plea filed by the CBI seeking the court's permission to interrogate Kavitha in judicial custody.
