The bench, in its order, noted that as per provision of the Act, the government was empowered to levy additional fees.

NEW DELHI : The Delhi high court on Wednesday deferred hearing in a plea that sought to probe alleged fraudulent practices by Axis Bank in the sale and purchase of shares in Max Life Insurance Co Ltd. Counsels for the private sector lender and Max Life Insurance said that the case is pending with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi), which has the authority to adjudicate in these kinds of matters. The entities argued that the dispute, centering on a commercial transaction between two private parties, does not directly implicate the interests of the public shareholders, suggesting limited judicial intervention is warranted.

When such is the nature of one spouse towards the other, it brings disgrace to the very essence of marriage and there exists no possible reason as to why he should be compelled to live while enduring the agony of living together..”

Sanjay Shukla, who has quit the Congress and joined the BJP, and three others proposing a fine of Rs 140.60 crore for alleged illegal mining of 'murum' (mixed) soil and stones, officials said on Wednesday. The mining department has unearthed illegal mining in two places of 5.50 hectares and 3.40 hectares in Baroli village adjoining Indore in Madhya Pradesh, they said. A fine of Rs 140.60 crore is proposed to be imposed on Shukla and three others under the Madhya Pradesh Minerals (Prevention of Illegal Mining, Transport and Storage) Rules 2022 for this illegal mining, the officials said. Besides Shukla, the other respondents in the notice are his brother Rajendra Shukla, president of the Eden Garden Housing Cooperative Society Limited, and Baroli village resident Meharban Singh Rajput, they said.

The plea raised concerns about the potential misuse of Indian citizens' data, including Aadhaar and passport details, by three foreign-owned corporations: MakeMyTrip, GoIbibo, and SkyScanner.
