India's plan of becoming the fastest-growing G20 nation may hinge on the weather
India exists at all. By some miracle of human ingenuity and industry, a land area barely bigger than Argentina with less water than Colombia is able to support nearly a fifth of the world’s population. The record-breaking temperatures above 52 degrees Celsius (125.6 degrees Fahrenheit) in the capital New Delhi this week are a warning sign, however. The magic spell that has sustained this achievement is coming close to breaking. That’s an issue not just for those sweltering on the streets of the world’s second-biggest city, but for the path to wealth that 1.4 billion people hope to follow. India has a far poorer natural endowment of land than Europe, North America and China, the continental economies that preceded it on the road to riches. Even the fragile benefits that its citizens have managed to eke out of this unpromising soil might now be slipping further away, as climate change exposes its deep fragility and washes away the foundations of growth.

To avoid such setbacks, thorough preparation is essential. In this article, the discussion will center on what proof of financial support entails and how to obtain a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) to fulfill these requirements to study in Canada as an international student. Temperature surges, so does summer travel this year
summer travel this year, with hospitality and travel services providers noticing buoyant demand. Although the ongoing general elections have had a minor impact on corporate and meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) business, hotels are finding increased retail business with beach destinations still fighting it out with hill stations for the favoured holiday site. «Those in the northern part of the country head to the hills to escape the heat. There is also movement from the cities to nearby tourist or leisure destinations. Industry sources estimate a 30 to 40% increase in the summer travel this year as compared to last year,» Hotel Association of India, president and Radisson Hotel Group chairman, south Asia, KB Kachru said. MakeMyTrip group CEO Rajesh Magow said, «Summer is always one of the biggest quarters of the year in terms of travel intent, and this year too, the buoyancy in the sector continues. We are observing a healthy growth in searches over those recorded last year at this time.»

Mint Primer | Why multiple chatbots are better than one
Mint explains: Systems that rely on more than one chatbot or use multiple Large Language Models (LLMs) are called multi-agent systems (MAS). A chatbot on the website of a bank, auto, insurance, edtech or any other company has improved over the years, thanks to advances in AI and natural language processing. But it still falls short of answering questions that might require more ‘human-like’ capabilities or pulling data from different domains.

What holiday plans? Indians tripping on last-minute rush
domestic destinations, half a dozen experts at travel companies told ET. Reasons: more visa-free destinations, lower average age of travellers, a rise in disposable incomes, and availability of spontaneous booking options. “We are observing a significant increase in last-minute bookings among Indian travellers,” said Bharatt Malik, senior vice-president, flights and hotel business, at travel platform Yatra Online. “This is largely driven by the growing availability of flexible payment options (such as no-cost EMI and book now, pay later), which make spontaneous travel more accessible.” At Yatra Online, three out of 10 bookings are made within just three days of travel, and half the bookings are made within a week, Malik said. While booking early allows travellers to secure good deals, younger travellers increasingly prefer to keep their plans flexible, which often gives a sense of excitement and adventure and also lets them take advantage of last-minute deals.

Lower shipments of iron & steel dragged down engineering exports in April by 3.2%
growth in the last four months, India’s engineering exports declined in April 2024 by 3.2% to US$8.67 billion primarily due to lower shipments of metals, especially iron & steel and copper. Lower shipment of steel was mainly witnessed in Italy, Nepal, UAE, Netherlands, USA, China, and South Korea among others. Excluding the export of iron and steel, engineering exports recorded a growth of 2.61% during April 2024. A substantial 36.41% decline in exports of Iron and Steel therefore was the single most important reason behind the year-on-year decline in overall engineering exports during April 2024.
