KL Rahul likely to move on from Lucknow Super Giants after alleged fallout with owner
KL Rahul has been one of the most prolific run getters in the history of the Indian Premier League. Having debuted with Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2013, the 32-year-old has scored 4,683 runs in the 10 seasons that he has played. After playing just five matches in his first season, he moved to Sunrisers Hyderabad for a couple of seasons. However, his returns were average at best. 2016 proved to be the breakthrough season for Rahul, where he scored 397 runs at a strike rate of 146 in a star-studded RCB line-up that had the likes of Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, AB De Villiers and Shane Watson. Unfortunately, he had to miss the 2017 season owing to injury and was shockingly released ahead of the 2018 mega auction. King XI Punjab (Now Punjab Kings) signed the batter in the auction, and he did not disappoint. Out of the five seasons for the franchise, he piled more than 600 runs in four years, and missed making a perfect five as he fell seven runs short in 2019.

Samsung reports major progress in supply deal for AI chips
Samsung Electronics on Thursday reported progress on a major supply deal for artificial intelligence-focused chips, aiming to reassure investors following a slowdown in semiconductor profits during the last quarter. The South Korean technology giant said its operating profit for the July-September period increased by more than 277 per cent from a year earlier to 9.18 trillion won (USD 6.65 billion). But the figure represented a 12 per cent decline from the second quarter, which Samsung attributed largely to one-off costs, such as provision of employee incentives in its computer chip business, and the effects of a weaker US dollar.

BJP raking up Waqf issue with eye on by-polls, Maharashtra election, says Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah
Siddaramaiah on Thursday alleged that BJP was raking up the «Waqf issue» with an eye on the upcoming assembly by-polls in the state and elections in neighboring Maharashtra. Following allegations by a section of farmers in certain parts of the state that their lands were marked as Waqf properties, he reiterated that none of them will be evicted, and notices issued to them will be withdrawn. «BJP is doing politics. Notices were issued during their (BJP) tenure too, what do they have to say about it? During BJP's tenure over 200 notices were given. One should not practice such dual politics,» Siddaramaiah said. Speaking to reporters here, the CM said, «I have already said that the notices will be withdrawn, where is the issue? In case the notices are issued they will be withdrawn and no one will be evicted, where is the issue?»

Global economy set to cruise at a solid 3% growth rate next year
central banks implement a series of interest rate cuts against the backdrop of a strong U.S. economy, according to a Reuters poll of around 500 economists. Next week's hotly-contested U.S. presidential election could limit the growth picture, however, by re-writing the current rules around trade. Unexpected resilience that led economists to significantly upgrade their 2024 global growth forecasts since the beginning of the year is in large part thanks to the U.S. economy's performance.

Private sector banks, fixed income could outshine in a volatile market: Rajeev Thakkar
«I think fixed income will be a tough competitor to equity is my guess. Again, no one knows, but my guess is fixed income also has a reasonable chance,» says Rajeev Thakkar, CIO, PPFAS. Expecting it to be a better year? Rajeev Thakkar: Hopefully, yes. Better year, I am not so sure because last year returns have been one of a kind and it is very-very difficult to better that. If we eke out a reasonably positive year in the 12 months ahead, I think that would be good.

Sean Diddy to get relief? Judge says lawsuit against US rapper can be dismissed under this condition
“The fundamental question is whether Plaintiff has a ‘substantial privacy’ interest that ‘outweighs the customary and constitutionally-embedded presumption of openness in judicial proceedings,” Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil wrote in an opinion Wednesday, adding, “Defendants have a right to defend themselves, including by investigating Plaintiff, and the people have a right to know who is using their courts.” This means if the woman fails to reveal her identity, the lawsuit filed against Sean 'Diddy' Combs can be dismissed. The woman filed the lawsuit as a Jane Doe against Diddy Combs earlier this month, accusing him of raping her in 2004 when she was just 19 years old.

The firms have so far not replied,” said a person familiar with the details. Another official said the government will wait for some more time for their reply and may also send a reminder, but the applications won’t be processed till they agree to all the security conditions.

US Elections: President Biden's 'garbage' gaffe gives Donald Trump political boost
His remarks, made in response to a comedian's derogatory comment about Puerto Rico at a Donald Trump rally, have opened a door for Trump to shift focus away from his own controversial campaign tactics. Biden criticised the comedian's description of Puerto Rico as a «floating island of garbage,» asserting that the people of Puerto Rico are «good, decent, and honourable.» However, his defence sparked a political uproar, detracting from Vice President Kamala Harris's key closing speech on Tuesday evening, CNN reported.
