NCLT dismisses BEST's bid to be classified as secured creditor in Spark Green Energy insolvency
bankruptcy court has rejected Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) Undertaking’s application to direct the liquidator of Spark Green Energy (Satara) Ltd to categorise it as a secured financial creditor and also admit its claim of Rs 156 crore. The city-based public utility undertaking had approached the Mumbai bench of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) after the liquidator of Spark Green Energy (Satara) rejected the company’s claim to admit the amount. “The respondent (liquidator) was fully justified in categorizing the appellant as an unsecured financial creditor, given that the charge was not registered with the registrar of companies,” said the division bench of Kuldip Kumar Kareer and a technical member Anil Raj Chellan in its order of October 25. “Therefore, no fault can be found with the impugned order passed by the respondent. Consequently, we reject the appellant's prayer to be considered and classified as a secured financial creditor of the corporate debtor.”

Adani is eyeing a tiny Himalayan kingdom to power his international blueprint
Gautam Adani is exploring investment opportunities in Bhutan's Gelephu Mindfulness City, a new urban project aimed at transforming the southern region of the Himalayan kingdom into a thriving economic hub. Gelephu Governor Lotay Tshering told Bloomberg, Bhutan is engaging with the Adani Group, led by Asia's second-richest individual, to develop solar and hydroelectric plants within this ambitious 1,000-square-kilometer township near the Indian border. Bhutan’s investment initiative underscores its long-standing alliance with India, which views Bhutan’s growth as strategic for countering China’s influence in the region. This partnership offers Adani Group a chance to bolster its green energy portfolio, aligning with its existing international projects across Israel, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Vietnam. Governor Tshering, who served as Bhutan’s Prime Minister until 2023, revealed that hundreds of sites have been identified for renewable energy projects in the Gelephu area. With an estimated capacity addition of 20 gigawatts, the project aims to establish a sustainable energy network. Geopolitical analysis, VIP onboard among criteria in new norms to check hoax bomb threats to flights
civil aviation security and intelligence agencies have been issued by the Bureau of Civil Aviation (BCAS) in view of the «evolving security challenges», especially the «emerging trend» of issuing hoax bomb threats through various social media platforms. In the past two weeks, more than 510 domestic and international flights have received bomb threats that later turned out to be hoaxes. The threats were issued mostly through anonymous handles on social media platform X. This has caused «major» operational and financial distress for the airlines. As per the current practice, a Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) is convened at a designated airport to analyse a bomb or security threat issued against an airline, airport or any part of the aviation ecosystem that decides to declare it «specific» or serious or «non-specific» or hoax.

No Hindu-Muslim angle linked to ban on firecrackers in Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday defended ban on firecrackers, saying it is necessary for protecting people from pollution and there is no 'Hindu-Muslim' angle to it. Kejriwal said Diwali is a festival of lights and it should be celebrated by lighting 'diya' and candles instead of bursting firecrackers that cause pollution. «It's not that we are doing any favour to others. We are doing favour to ourselves because ultimately we and our small kids will suffer from the pollution caused (by bursting crackers),» he said in a press conference.

Lawn-sign wars: US voters use trackers, cameras to deter political theft
Kamala Harris signs disappearing from her Springfield, Missouri, front yard, Laura McCaskill taped a tracking device to one to see where it might end up. That led her to a blue Kia sedan in a nearby town, where a young man admitted he had stolen her sign, along with dozens of others, according to a video shot by McCaskill. «Um, yeah, so if you want them back they're right there,» he said as he stood next to a trunk filled with Harris signs. As the Nov. 5 election between Harris and Republican Donald Trump draws near, people across the U.S. are reporting a rash of yard-sign thefts — and turning to a range of remedies to stop them, from surveillance cameras and GPS trackers to low-tech solutions like glitter and hot peppers to deter would-be thieves.
