Shardul Thakur, Nicholas Pooran shine in LSG's five-wicket win over SRH
Lucknow Super Giants over Sunrisers Hyderabad in an IPL match here on Thursday. Shardul continued his dream comeback returning with figures of 4/34 to help LSG restrict a power-packed SRH to 190 for nine before Pooran (70 off 26; 6x4s, 6x6s) displayed his 360 degree hitting skills. Pooran shared quick-fire match-winning 116 runs for the second wicket with Marsh (52 off 31) to help LSG chase down the target in 16.1 overs. LSG didn't have the best start to their chase as they lost Aiden Markram early. But thereafter, it was the effortless hitting from Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran that helped LSG surge ahead. Pooran in particular was at his attacking best as he mostly dealt in sixes, clobbering Simarjeet and Abhishek Sharma for huge sixes during his knock, mostly towards the square boundary.

Good salary, work-from-home job. But one morning habit gets him fired
His downfall began with late-night scrolling and texting, which led to occasional oversleeping. Though he was only late by 10 to 15 minutes a few times, his manager noticed a pattern. Given a chance to explain why his laptop consistently showed him logging in past the expected start time of 9 AM, he panicked and lied about having technical issues instead of admitting the truth. Unfortunately, his dishonesty led to immediate termination, leaving him feeling hopeless and back to square one. Having already had two jobs that lasted only three months, he feared the impact on his resume and struggled emotionally with losing an opportunity he had worked so hard for. While he acknowledged that the mistake was entirely his fault, he also realized that a lack of passion for his field played a role in his dwindling motivation. His true interests lay in industries like aviation and automotive, which are notoriously difficult to break into.

PBKS vs GT: IPL's second-most expensive player, Shreyas Iyer, misses his maiden IPL ton by 3 runs
Punjab Kings and their new skipper Shreyas Iyer, who anchored the team's batting and and missed his maiden IPL ton by just three runs against Gujarat Titans. Giving a dream start to the franchise in red in their IPL 2025 opener, Iyer smashed 97 runs to set 244 as target for the Shubman Gill-led team to chase. Iyer, the champion captain of IPL 2024, who led Kolkata Knight Riders to their second title win, hit five FOURs and nine SIXES, covering the Narendra Modi stadium 360 degrees. His knock is a carry-forward of his brilliant form he has carried right from domestic cricket to Champions Trophy. Shashank Singh's cameo knock of 44 runs added valued runs to the scorecard and the batsman smashed five boundaries in the final over, keeping the Kings' skipper on the non-striker's end. In an interview post his innings, Singh revealed that Iyer was clear that he doesn't want any batsman to care about his possible century but simply make runs for the team.

Young India sees consumption as just another activity, not an identity marker
Subscribe to enjoy similar stories. Discussion around youth consumption in India has been largely focused around observed purchasing behaviour. Despite its enormous value in guiding marketers, two key questions have been left to the realm of assumption rather than data-led insights: one, the larger and more foundational question of where consumption is located in the overall canvas of life aspirations, dreams and emotions of ‘mass’ or mainstream young India.

How a terrible interview process helped a techie find his dream job
He initially engaged with the recruiter, who described the job as offering a competitive salary and benefits. The first round involved a video call with the hiring manager and HR to discuss his experience, which he found reasonable. The second round was an in-person panel interview with engineers, where he had to answer technical questions and give a short presentation. However, the third round included a group project where candidates had to suggest improvements to an existing company design, followed by technical aptitude tests and a final interview with senior management and HR. Unwilling to participate in what he saw as an unnecessarily complex and time-consuming process, he withdrew his application and informed the recruiter that such extensive procedures might be suitable for graduate-level roles but not for senior professionals. The recruiter, surprisingly, agreed and mentioned that he was making sure candidates were aware of the process beforehand.

US to freeze scholarships funding; thousands of Indian students in limbo
US State Department's decision to freeze funding for Fulbright and other scholarships has left thousands of Indian students in limbo, stripping them of an opportunity that once changed lives, said study abroad consultants. Apart from taking away financial support, the stoppage has effectively blocked academic exposure for a host of students who are capable but with limited means, and stranded some mid-course. Shreya Mudgil was pursuing an MPhil in English from Kurukshetra University. As a 2019 Fulbright scholar, she spent a year primarily at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, with all expenses covered and a stipend to boot. It was an opportunity she could only dream of till then. More than just academic exposure, it reshaped her introvert personality. Mudgil, head of marketing at food startup Conosh, now moves effortlessly in elite culinary circles, rubbing shoulders with celebrity and Michelin-starred chefs. «A hundred percent of that transformation came from the exposure Fulbright gave me,» she said.

The greatest missed investment in Shark Tank's history: Would you have made the offer?
Shark Tank, where fortunes are made and dreams are crushed in mere minutes, one missed opportunity still haunts the show's history. It was a moment of rejection that later turned into a billion-dollar regret. Back in 2013, a passionate entrepreneur walked into the Shark Tank, seeking funding for his innovative startup. His pitch lasted just nine minutes, and when he walked away empty-handed, it seemed like another routine dismissal. But what the Sharks didn’t realize at that moment was that they had just let go of a company that would soon become a household name—one that Amazon would later acquire for a staggering $1 billion.

In voyage to make US great again, is Trump disrupting the great American dream?
Immigration Native Americans represent only 2% of the U.S. population, with the rest of the population having an immigration story. Trump himself has German ancestry on his father’s side, Melania is from Slovenia, Vice President JD Vance has Scots-Irish roots, and his wife is of Indian origin. America has always been a «melting pot,» attracting talent from around the world. The American dream has allowed for success stories like that of Arnold Schwarzenegger, an Austrian bodybuilder who became a leading actor and later California governor. What’s Changed?

Ahead of IOC election, 350 Olympians urge candidates to make climate action top priority
Saina Nehwal and PR Sreejesh, have written a letter to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) presidential candidates, urging them to make climate action their top priority. As IOC members gather in Costa Navarino, Greece, to vote on the seven candidates next week (March 18-21), the Olympians called for stronger commitments from the IOC to cut carbon emissions, promote sustainability in host cities, set clear guidelines on polluting sponsors and use its platform to advocate for climate action. Climate impacts are «no longer a distant threat, but a current and growing harm to the sports we love and to the countries that make up our Olympic family», the letter said. The signatories include 57 Olympic champions and over 100 Olympic flag bearers. They represent some of the world's most climate-vulnerable nations, including Argentina, Aruba, the Bahamas, Cabo Verde, Colombia, Cook Islands, Eswatini, Fiji, Ghana, India, Kenya, Laos, the Marshall Islands, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Sierra Leone and Zambia. Recognizing that extreme weather events are already disrupting the Summer and Winter Olympics and affecting athlete performance and safety, the letter urges decisive action to ensure the games remain accessible and safe for future generations. Earlier this year, massive wildfires burned large areas of Los Angeles, the host city of the 2028 Olympic Games. The fires killed about 30 people, destroyed thousands of buildings, and forced tens of thousands to flee their homes.
