Critics point to Harris' previous statements supporting survivors of abuse, which have sparked renewed debate in light of the Emhoff allegations. As the two waited in the valet line after an event at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2012, the second gentleman, Doug Emhoff, a 59-year-old Hollywood lawyer, struck his then-flavour, a prosperous New York attorney, in the face so hard, that she spun around, three unnamed friends of the woman, as quoted in a report by the New York Post. Critics of Harris quickly capitalized on the alleged abuse, which they said was caused by Emhoff's misguided jealousy that he thought his beau was flirting with another man. They cited years in which the vice president asserted that she believes women who have experienced sexual assault.

The actor, best known for his 'Good Times' television role, passed away, according to a recent statement from his son. The actor passed away at the age of 84. On Tuesday, October 1, Kelly Christopher Amos, John's son, verified that his father passed away on August 21st, several months prior. Amos, a former football player, enjoyed a successful five-decade acting career. Kelly said in a statement that it is with heartfelt sadness that he shares that his father has transitioned. He was adored by people all throughout the world and had the sweetest, most precious heart, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. He is regarded by many as their TV father.
