The court, which on Friday dismissed Kumar's petition that claimed his arrest was illegal, said in its written judgment that there was no merit in his plea. Kumar, currently in judicial custody, allegedly assaulted Maliwal at Kejriwal's official residence on May 13. He was arrested by the Delhi Police on May 18. In his plea, Kumar had sought a direction to declare his arrest as illegal and in gross violation of the provisions of section 41A (notice of appearance before police officer) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) and against the mandate of the law.

According to the 2022-23 report by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), which was presented in the state legislature on Friday, the state has been deprived of economic growth benefits, and there is no assured return on investments in irrigation and flood control due to incomplete projects. «There were 20 incomplete irrigation projects (commenced between 1983 and 2018) to be completed by the year 2023. The original cost of these projects has increased from Rs 1,02,388 crore to Rs 2,06,977 crore i.e., an escalation by Rs 1,04,589 crore (102 per cent),» reported PTI quoting the auditing watchdog.

On Thursday, Infosys informed stock exchanges that the Karnataka State GST authorities, a reference to the zonal office of DGGI, had withdrawn the pre-show cause notice and directed it to respond to DGGI's central authority on the matter. The Adani offer already ensures a 92% recovery for the lenders. Banks had received a total of 10 financial bids for the thermal power company by Thursday evening. Other bidders include Capri Global Holdings, Coal India, NTPC, Vedanta, JSW Energy, Naveen Jindal-owned Jindal Steel & Power, iLab India Special Fund, Rashmi Metaliks and Sherisha Technologies, said the people cited above. Adani Power's offer is a combination of ₹12,500 crore in upfront cash, ₹9,000 crore of accumulated cash in the company since three of its units are operational, and an estimated receivables of ₹5,500 crore, one of the persons cited above said.

Rau's IAS Study Circle has offered compensation of Rs 50 lakh each to the families of three UPSC aspirants who died after rainwater gushed inside the institute's basement in Old Rajinder Nagar last week. The institute announced the compensation on Thursday, five days after the incident occurred. «We are offering Rs 50 lakh compensation to the family of each student who has lost their lives. Half the money will be given now. While the remaining portion will be given once Abhishek Gupta, CEO of the organisation, comes out or within six months, whichever is earlier», Rau's IAS advocate Mohit Saraf told PTI videos. On July 27, three UPSC aspirants drowned in the basement library of Rau's coaching centre. The Delhi Police has arrested seven people in connection with the case, including Rau's CEO Abhishek Gupta and coordinator Deshpal Singh.
