Arvind Kejriwal’s aide, Bibhav Kumar, has been sent to five days in police custody following allegations of assaulting AAP Rajya Sabha member Swati Maliwal. The Delhi Police arrested Kumar on Saturday, and his anticipatory bail plea was subsequently declared “infructuous” by a Delhi court. The police allege that Kumar, Kejriwal’s personal assistant, assaulted Maliwal at the CM's residence on the morning of May 13. Kumar was produced before Metropolitan Magistrate Gaurav Goyal, who granted the police’s request for custody. The police, through their counsel, sought seven days of custody to question Kumar about the assault. They argued that Kumar did not provide his mobile phone password to the investigating agency and claimed that his phone had been formatted in Mumbai due to a malfunction. Police stated, “Before being formatted, the data of a mobile phone has to be cloned, and Kumar was required to be taken to Mumbai for retrieving the data.” They added that his presence was needed when his mobile phone is opened by an expert.

Bibhav Kumar, personal aide of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal who was arrested today by Delhi Police in connection with the alleged assault on AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal will be produced in court shortly. The police is likely to seek his custody in the case. Delhi Police is also investigating the reason for Bibhav to reach the crime scene (CM house), that too a day after the victim recreated the crime scene.

D K Shivakumar and other state ministers on Saturday rubbished allegations about their role in the circulation of pen drives containing explicit videos involving Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna. BJP leader and advocate G Devaraje Gowda, who is in custody after being arrested in a sexual abuse case and is also facing charges of video leak, on Friday alleged that Shivakumar and four other ministers are behind the circulation of the pen drives and was being fixed in false cases as he did not agree to be part of their plan. Raj Bhavan here for allegedly wrongfully restraining the woman, who accused Governor C V Ananda Bose of molesting her, police said on Saturday. The FIR against the three officials was lodged at the Hare Street police station after the woman, a contractual employee of Raj Bhavan, recorded her statement before a magistrate in the molestation case, a police officer said. «The three officers have been included in the FIR for stopping the complainant woman from leaving Raj Bhawan by wrongfully restraining her on May 2. We will investigate their roles on that evening,» the officer said. On May 2, the woman had alleged molestation by Bose following which the Kolkata Police started a probe.

Authorities reported that eight devotees lost their lives and numerous others sustained injuries when a bus they were traveling in caught fire on the Kundali-Manesar-Palwal Expressway in Haryana on Friday night. The devotees, who had been on a pilgrimage to Mathura and Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh, were returning when the fire erupted. The bus, which carried over 60 individuals from a family, including women and children, all hailing from Punjab, became engulfed in flames. Survivors recounted noticing flames at the rear of the bus around 1:30 am on Saturday and attempted to alert the driver. Observing the escalating situation, a passing motorcycle rider trailed the bus and alerted the driver, prompting a halt. Local residents rushed to douse the flames and rescue those seated at the front of the bus.

Anita Goyal, the wife of Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal, passed away early Thursday morning, confirmed by a close family source. Kolkata: The CBI on Friday conducted raids at the residences of two Trinamool Congress leaders at Kathi in Purba Medinipur district of West Bengal in connection with its ongoing investigation into the killing of a BJP worker in post-poll violence in 2021, an officer said. A team of CBI officers raided the houses of Kathi Block no 3 TMC leader Debabrata Panda and another block president Nandadulal Maiti in the early hours of Friday in connection with its ongoing investigation, he said. «Panda, Nandadulal's son and 52 others have been named in the FIR lodged in connection with the murder of Janmejay Dolui,» the CBI officer told PTI. Dolui, a BJP worker, was killed in post-poll violence following the 2021 assembly election.
