AAP MLA arrested in year-old extortion case; party calls it 'illegal'
Naresh Balyan was arrested here on Saturday in connection with an extortion case lodged last year, police said. The MLA from Delhi's Uttam Nagar Assembly segment was called to the Delhi Police's Crime Branch office in R K Puram for questioning and was later arrested, they said. The development came hours after the BJP alleged that Balyan was involved in extortion activities and questioned why AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal has not taken action against him. The Aam Aadmi Party defended Balyan, claiming that his arrest was illegal. The MLA had refuted the BJP's allegations and said he would lodge police cases against those who «spread lies» about him.

Trump's nominee for Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, accused of mistreating women for years by his mother
Pete Hegseth, President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Defense, is under scrutiny following the disclosure of a 2018 email from his mother, Penelope Hegseth, alleging a history of mistreatment toward women. The revelations come as Hegseth prepares for Senate confirmation hearings, which are expected to intensify focus on his character and past conduct. In the email, Penelope Hegseth expressed deep disappointment in her son’s actions, stating, “You are an abuser of women—that is the ugly truth...I have no respect for any man that belittles, lies, cheats, sleeps around, and uses women for his own power and ego. You are that man.” She criticized his treatment of his second wife, Samantha, during their contentious divorce, accusing him of labeling her “unstable” for his advantage. Penelope later apologized for the email, explaining in a phone interview with The New York Times that her comments were made in anger during a difficult period for her son. Defending Pete, she stated, “It is not true. It has never been true. He is a good father, husband.” She also criticized the publication of her email, calling it “disgusting.”

Fallon Guliwala (40), the wife of actor-turned-politician Ajaz Khan, over a month after his staff member was apprehended for ordering 100 grams of mephedrone (MDMA) through a courier. Guliwala, a foreign national, was detained following a raid by the agency at her home in Jogeshwari on Wednesday, where various drugs were seized. Her name surfaced in the ongoing drug smuggling investigation, which began on October 8 when the agency arrested Ajaz’s peon, Suraj Gaud. The drugs, meant for delivery to Ajaz's office at B-207, Oberoi Chambers, Veera Desai Industrial Estate in Andheri, were linked to the case. Officials then raided Ajaz Khan's residence in Jogeshwari on Wednesday and Thursday, where the house was registered in the name of Fallon Guliwala. During her interrogation, Guliwala confirmed that Farhan was Ajaz's nephew and the owner of Ek Number Production house. A search of her flat led to the discovery of drugs, including 136 grams of charas, 33 grams of MDMA in empty pouches, 28 grams of MDMA tablets, and other narcotics, as well as cash amounting to Rs 11 lakh. She was subsequently arrested.
