The company is planning to expand its manufacturing business to make laptops and notebooks under the IT hardware production-linked incentive scheme, according to industry executives who are aware of the matter. It is currently in talks with a global brand and is expected to start manufacturing for them in the next 3-6 months.

While consumers lapped up premium products in cities and large towns continuing the trend of the last three years, demand in rural areas continued to be muted this month. “Consumer sentiment appears to have improved a bit more than what it was for the rest of the year. We expect 5-10% growth in sales while volume wise there might be an improvement only in the grab and go categories like mobile phones and laptops,” said Nilesh Gupta, director at Vijay Sales, a leading consumer electronic retail chain in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

Gensol Engineering and Matrix Gas & Renewables has bagged a 237 MW electrolyser manufacturing plant project, a statement said on Wednesday. The project was secured through a competitive bidding process invited by Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), Gensol Engineering said, adding that the project will be set up as part of the government's production linked incentive (PLI). «Gensol Engineering in collaboration with Matrix Gas & Renewables announced that it has emerged as a winning bidder for 237 MW annual capacity under the PLI scheme for setting up electrolyser manufacturing plant,» it said. With the latest win, the Gensol-Matrix consortium has secured a cumulative 300 MW capacity, including a 63 MW project awarded earlier in an SECI tender.

The fraud involved fraudulent GST refunds that amounted to approximately Rs 54 crore, and forged invoices totaling Rs 718 crore were discovered. The operation uncovered nearly 500 non-existent firms, which appeared to be engaging in business activities solely on paper to claim the fraudulent refunds, a TOI report stated. Officials have pointed to significant procedural lapses and malpractices by the arrested GST officer, Babita Sharma, who has since been suspended. The fraudulent refunds were reportedly approved without proper verification of input tax credit, which has resulted in a substantial loss to the government’s exchequer.
