Multinationals are rushing to exploit a runaway rally in the Indian stock markets, with more than a dozen firms paring holdings in their local businesses in the past year, while half a dozen others, including Hyundai and LG, are planning public listings. GE T&D India is the latest to join a growing list of global companies like Wabco, ITC, Styrenix Performance Materials, Federal-Mogul Goetze, Timken India, Motherson Sumi, GMM Pfaudler, Thomas Cook, and Whirlpool taking advantage of premium valuations in India, which significantly exceed those of their global counterparts.

Domestic benchmark index NSE Nifty ended 41.0 points down at 25377.55, while the BSE Sensex closed 131.43 points down at 82948.23.

«But overall, the market undertone is very positive and comparatively Bank Nifty is looking way much better than Nifty because in Bank Nifty we have seen very strong breakout and even the 52,000 mark which was the major hurdle now is supposed to act as a very strong support zone,» says Osho Krishan, Angel One. What is your sense of the market, the kind of construct that we are seeing with respect to largecaps versus the broader markets? Osho Krishan: Well, looking at the overall sentiments in the market, they are obviously very positive. But for the benchmark index, the last two trading sessions, there has been some kind of resilience around the zone of 25,430, 25,440 odd levels on the spot zone.

Abneesh Roy, Executive Director, Nuvama Institutional, says the food space is quite attractive and there we will prefer Bikaji because it is a pure-play foods company. Among larger companies, he also likes HUL and ITC. Food is an attractive category, but there are very diversified companies. A double-digit volume growth for Bikaji is seen in last many quarters and that is expected to continue. After the edible oil duty hike, in H2, most of the food companies are expected to take price hikes. That should help overall pricing growth also. While the first quarter was subdued, we did see some positive outlooks from a few QSR companies. What is happening in terms of a meaningful recovery, on ground zero? Abneesh Roy: Gradual recovery will happen. That space has seen slowdown now almost for six quarters. The base has become favourable, but there is a lot of competition between the players and delivery seems to be doing better. So, delivery-focused players should do better. But urban consumption is still a challenge. We have seen the impact of higher interest rates. We have also seen the impact of job losses and the salary cuts in the D2C startups.

Nestle intends to keep its Health Science unit, Chairman Paul Bulcke said in a newspaper interview published on Sunday, after the food giant announced it was replacing its CEO Mark Schneider with company veteran Laurent Freixe. The health business is among the Nestle units which some analysts say could be sold over the medium turn. Asked by the NZZ am Sonntag newspaper whether Nestle would retain Nestle Health Science, Bulcke said: «Absolutely,» adding that the sector was «promising with benefits for society.»

Nestle CEO Mark Schneider was ousted in a sudden move by the world's biggest foodmaker as a result of the group's underperformance, three sources familiar with the matter told Reuters on Friday. The company announced Schneider's departure late on Thursday following a board meeting and appointed veteran Laurent Freixe as its new CEO. That put an end to a near eight-year tenure at the helm by the 58-year-old German, the first company outsider to lead Nestle in nearly a century. Nestle declined to give further details beyond comments made on an investor call on Friday, where Chairman Paul Bulcke said the board together with Schneider had assessed the current environment and together had agreed to make the change.
