What is Olympic Sport Climbing? American teenager sets record with 15-meter wall climb in under 5 seconds
Sam Watson, 18-year-old, set a speed climbing world record of 4.75 seconds at the Olympics. At a speed climbing event, spectators must be vigilant as athletes can scale the 15-meter wall in around five seconds. Climbing first appeared at the Tokyo Games in 2021, having been introduced to the Olympic radar at the Buenos Aires Youth Olympic Games in 2018. The sport, along with skateboarding and surfing, aimed to attract younger audiences. It will continue to be part of the program for the Los Angeles 2028 Summer Olympics.

Americans have more depth than anyone at the pool, but gold medals harder and harder to come by
Olympic medal podium is no longer a given for U.S. swimmers. Nine days of thrilling competition at La Defense Arena wrapped up Sunday night with the Americans barely pulling out the lead in the gold medal standings thanks to a victory in the final race. The U.S. finished with just eight golds, its fewest since the 1988 Seoul Games and one ahead of its biggest rival, Australia.

Competing for two: Pregnant Olympians push the boundaries of possibility in Paris
Nada Hafez shared a little bit more. She'd been fencing for two, the athlete revealed — and in fact had been pregnant for seven months. «What appears to you as two players on the podium, they were actually three!» Hafez wrote, under an emotional picture of her during the match. «It was me, my competitor, &; my yet-to-come to our world, little baby!» Mom (and baby) finished the competition ranked 16th, Hafez's best result in three Olympics.

Meet young Yusuf Dikec: Did the Turkish Olympic 'hitman' always have the same swag? Watch the viral video
Yusuf Dikec, the Turkish shooter who has taken the Paris 2024 Olympics by storm, has a surprising secret: he didn’t always wear glasses. An old footage from the 2011 ISSF Championship reveals a sharp-eyed Dikec without his now-signature eyewear. The transformation from the bespectacled sharpshooter we know today to the focused athlete of yesteryears is intriguing. Did the glasses become a lucky charm, or perhaps a necessity over time? Regardless, the change in appearance has done little to dampen Dikec’s shooting prowess.

‘Women can have high testosterone. That doesn’t make them men, or transgender’
Since last week, Algerian boxer Imane Khelif has been at the centre of a ‘gender row’. Khelif has had to face accusations that include her of ‘not being a woman’. Amit Chaudhary spoke with UK-based athlete rights advocate & executive director, Humans of Sport, Payoshni Mitra, who has been at the forefront of the fight against sex testing policies in sports to declutter the mess surrounding the issue. Excerpts: Your immediate thoughts when you heard about Khelif? My first reaction was, ‘Not again’. See, it's not about gender. There was no proper test. Everything is speculation. Sometimes misinformation is being shared by people in powerful positions. We really need to question all of that and see where this information is coming from, what’s fuelling this controversy? Is there any real basis to it? And with this one as well, there wasn't any complete medical assessment there.

IOC calls tests that sparked vitriol targeting boxers Imane Khelif and Lin Yu-Ting impossibly flawed
Olympics organizers said Sunday that arbitrary testing imposed on boxers Imane Khelif and Lin Yu-Ting that led to a storm of vitriol misidentifying the women as transgender or men was «so flawed that it's impossible to engage with it.» International Olympic Committee spokesman Mark Adams again vigorously defended Khelif of Algeria and Lin of Taiwan, hammering the sport's now-banned governing body, the International Boxing Association, that claimed the fighters failed unspecified eligibility tests for women's competition. The two athletes were «carted off and tested» during the 2023 boxing world championships because «there were suspicions against them,» Adams said, slamming the process that singled them out. «I need hardly say if we start acting on suspicions against every athlete of whatever, then we go down a very bad route,» he said. He rejected the testing in its entirety.
