Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said in a written response to a question in Lok Sabha. The stampede happened at the New Delhi Railway station in the evening of February 15 amid a huge rush of devotees headed to the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. In his response in Parliament, Vaishnaw did not give the number of the deceased and the injured, but after the incident officials had said the stampede killed 18 people and left 15 injured. Vaishnaw said a high-level inquiry has been ordered into the incident. On other questions by members on the stampede and amenities created for devotees during the Maha Kumbh Mela, the railway minister gave a detailed response.

Specialty chemicals manufacturing startup Scimplify has raised $40 million in a Series B funding round co-led by Accel and existing investor Bertelsmann India Investments. The round also witnessed participation from UMI, 3one4 Capital and Omnivore. This brings the company’s total funding to around $54 million. UPI ID linked with a mobile number you dont use, or have anymore? It has not been an easy task to delink such an inactive mobile number from the UPI ID. However, going ahead, you will be able to remove, or de-link your mobile number from this UPI ID, even if you do not have that mobile number in your possession anymore. Before the end of this month (i.e., before March 31, 2025), all UPI banks and PSPs (payment service providers) will have to update their database with regards to recycled, or churned, numbers, to “reduce the chances of errors due to churned mobile numbers,” per a recent NPCI circular dated March 2025. Moreover, this will not be a one-off updation process. As the circular further notes, NPCI requires its member apps and banks to at least bring their mobile number databases up to date at least once a week, so that recycled, or churned-out, numbers are identified and weeded out more frequently. For this purpose, “the Banks, PSP apps shall use the Mobile Number Revocation List (MNRL)/Digital Intelligence Platform (DIP),” the circular adds.

Uber on Tuesday said it has tied up with Refex Green Mobility to deploy 1,000 electric vehicles across key cities by 2026, furthering its efforts to boost electric vehicles on its platform.
