He added, “…if Dr Manmohan Singh had become the President and Pranab had become the PM, I still think we would have lost in 2014 (Lok Sabha polls), but not by this massive humiliating defeat that we actually had, where we fell to 44 seats.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said the Centre and the Chhattisgarh government were committed to end the menace of Naxalism from the state before March 31, 2026. When Chhattisgarh becomes free of Naxalism, the entire country will get rid of the menace, Shah said addressing the President's Police Colour Award function at the police parade ground here. He said the Chhattisgarh police have made a significant achievement in the fight against Naxalism in the last one year. Congress president in Telangana B Mahesh Kumar Goud on Saturday said law was taking its course in the arrest of top Telugu actor Allu Arjun and that his party would not have issues with any film hero. The cases filed against Arjun are within the purview of law and the court granted him bail, he said. Congress would only have love for any cinema hero but not ill feeling, he said. Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole on Saturday said he had not tendered resignation from his party post. Party sources had claimed on Friday that following the rout faced by the Congress in the assembly elections, Patole had emailed a letter to party president Mallikarjun Kharge and expressed the desire to be relieved of his current responsibility. «I have not tendered any resignation...rumours are being spread,» he told reporters here. «Actually, the tenure of MPCC (Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee) chief is of three years, and I have completed four years.
