"Many Karnataka ministers will be implicated if serious investigation takes place": BJP MP Shettar on alleged honey trap
BJP MP Jagadish Shettar on Saturday raised concerns over the alleged honeytrap scandal in Karnataka, claiming that several insiders, including ministers and influential figures, are involved in it. He accused the state government of attempting to suppress the issue to prevent a political crisis and reiterated his demand for a CBI investigation. Speaking to the media, Shettar alleged that a thorough probe could expose high-profile individuals, which is why there is a concerted effort to shut down the case. «Several insiders are involved, and if a serious investigation takes place, many Karnataka ministers and important people will be implicated, which is why they want to close everything. I have insisted multiple times that the honey trap issue should be investigated by the CBI to reveal the truth, as the current government appears to be trying to suppress the matter to avoid a political collapse,» the BJP MP said. Recently, the Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to entertain a PIL seeking an independent probe by CBI or SIT into the alleged honeytrapping of legislators, public servants and judges in Karnataka.

Govt to impose strict penalties on sugar mills violating stock holding limits
Food and Consumer Affairs Ministry said on Friday. The ministry prescribes monthly stock holding limits for white/refined sugar to prevent hoarding and control price increases. For April, the stock holding limit is set at 23.5 lakh tonnes. In a directive issued to mills, the ministry said it has found repeated violations by some group and individual sugar mills despite previous warnings, prompting the issuance of new, stricter guidelines. Key penalties include: for first-time violations, 100 per cent of excess sugar sold will be deducted from the subsequent month's release quota. Subsequent violations will see progressively higher deductions: 115 per cent for the second, 130 per cent for the third, and 150 per cent for the fourth violation. Mills dispatching less than 90 per cent of quota without intimation will have restricted future allocations.

Scammers pose as police, trick 78-year-old into losing Rs 13 lakh life savings in digital heist
scammers posing as police officers, who extorted Rs 13 lakh from him, reported TOI. The fraudsters falsely accused him of money laundering and threatened his arrest within two days. Ratan Singh, an English teacher at a coaching centre and resident of Pandav Nagar, described the harrowing experience in his complaint. It all started on December 19 when he received a call while preparing tea before heading to work. The caller warned that his phone number would be disconnected within two hours. The call was then transferred to someone impersonating a policeman, who handed it over to a person claiming to be a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP). “They created a scene that made me believe the call was legitimate. Then the torture began,” Ratan recounted, said the report. The scammers escalated the situation by telling Ratan he was implicated in a money laundering case. They claimed his property would be sealed, and he would be arrested within two days unless he complied. They instructed him to provide his bank details, including the balance in his accounts, and demanded that he transfer his money to their accounts to avoid arrest and property confiscation. According to TOI, to heighten the pressure, the scammers told Ratan he was under surveillance and asked for personal information, including his location and battery percentage. They warned him not to inform anyone, threatening to seize his house if he did. Fearing the repercussions, Ratan did not tell his wife or daughter about the calls.

Russian assisted nuclear power plant in Bangladesh gets big boost
Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant in Bangladesh being built with Russian assistance in what is next step in building this power plant. An important process stage of the turbine installation has been completed at Rooppur NPP Unit 1 in Bangladesh (the general designer and general contractor is Rosatom State Corporation Engineering Division). This resulted in the turbine set placement on the barring gear. During the tests, the turbine shaft started rotating at a slow speed. The barring gear ensures correct alignment and balancing of the turbine rotor before the start-up and shutdown, which prevents the turbine components form wearing and ensures safe and efficient work. The experts carried out control checks that confirmed accuracy of the alignment and high quality of assembly of the turbine set. “Installation of the turbine at Rooppur NPP Unit 1 has been completed successfully and this is an important step to the physical start-up of the plant. The turbine set placement on the barring gear and successful control checks confirm accuracy of the assembly and reliability of the equipment. This result is an accomplishment of a highly qualified team of specialists and another evidence of the reliability of Russian technologies”, noted Alexey Deriy, Atomstroyexport JSC Vice President for Projects in Bangladesh.

The ‘Radical Left’ Judge Trump can’t stand is now handling his team’s Signalgate scandal lawsuit
Trump administration, accusing them of violating federal record-keeping laws by discussing military operations on the encrypted messaging app Signal. The case, filed by American Oversight, names Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent as defendants. “The Federal Records Act requires federal officials to preserve communications related to official government business,” American Oversight stated in its lawsuit, which seeks to prevent the destruction of federal records and compel compliance with the law. At the heart of the case is an extraordinary blunder: journalist Jeffrey Goldberg, editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, was mistakenly added to the group chat in which senior Trump officials were reportedly discussing a planned strike in Yemen. The lawsuit, however, does not focus on the security breach itself but rather on the officials’ alleged failure to preserve these critical communications.
